11 of us went for a hen weekend. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The grounds were lovely, the spa and hotel were a little tired but excellent value and quite adequate for our needs. The food was fine, good portion sizes. We found the booking of treatments a bit chaotic but we all eventually got catered for. One criticism: one of our party had a back, neck and shoulder massage face down on a couch without a hole for her face so ended up with a painful neck!
I would like to go again though because of the relaxed atmosphere and value for money.

We have just returned from a Spa Day out as a treat for my mums birthday, we had a spa day out with two course meal included and a treatment each. We are more than pleased with our day out. When we arrived a very nice looking young lad explained all the facilities and what was available to us. We were offered coffee, tea, water and juice all day. We enjoyed our morning in the spa, which is very basic but all very good and clean, it wasn't too crowded either.
After our spa morning we had a massage which was very good as well and after the treatment we had lunch which was up to standards as well.
The surroundings are beautiful and very peaceful, there is even a peacock in the garden!
I don't have anything negative to say really!
Thank you very much to all the staff! :)

We stayed on Saturday and Sunday night in July 2014. The hotel is set in beautiful gardens. The receptionist was welcoming. Our room was on the second floor and was comfortable, quiet and clean. There is no lift, not a problem for us. The pool area was wonderful, with a sauna and steam room. Sun loungers are available inside and outside. All meals were delicious and the service was excellent. We had a very relaxing break. A friendly peacock wanders the grounds and is a beautiful sight.

An fairly nondescript looking hotel situated in beautiful grounds which offers good value for money.

The price is very reasonable for the area and I was pleasantly surprised by the clean spacious room and very comfy large bed. We were in room 2 which had an amazing view overlooking the grounds at the front of the hotel. Unfortunately it was directly above the bar/restaurant area and although it was closed, was occupied by a noisy group of men (wedding party I think) who decided to put the world to rights until about 2 o'clock in the morning. I eventually got to sleep only to be awoken early as people started entering the restaurant for breakfast. It sounded like they were all in my room. There is absolutely no insulation so although the room was spacious unless you are completely deaf you will be disturbed.

I found the swimming pool very welcoming in the heat and a wonderful place to cool off. There is also a small terrace area where you can have lunch or sunbathe on the comfy sunbeds.

Breakfast was acceptable with a fairly good choice, although found the tinned fruit cocktail a little strange. I think there should be fresh fruit.

The staff are all very helpful and friendly and I think the hotel offers good value for money. I would recommend this hotel and would stay again, just in a different room.

Room Tip: Don't choose Room 2 unless you are deaf. The view is lovely though.

Situated in beautiful surroundings in the forest and only 15 minutes drive from Guildford. Quiet and relaxing. Nice bar and lovely grounds to unwind. Rooms comfortable, spacious, tastefully furnished, spotless with all the amenities. (Coffee/tea machine and complimentary biscuits). Plenty of storage room available. Bathroom also spacious. Receptionists very friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi at the Bar area only. On the negative side the mattress was a disaster!! Needs urgently to be replaced!! Room insulation is also non-existent!! Hope your next room neighbour doesn't snore! Shower gel only sufficient for one person. Double bed is actually a king size SINGLE bed not comfortable for 2 average adults. Was waken up at 7.20 am by the lawn mower under my bedroom window!!...Not a good time to mow the lawn!! Otherwise our stay was extremely enjoyable. Would probably visit again. There is even a peacock wandering in the grounds...Plenty of free parking available...easy to locate by car.

Room Tip: Travel light. There is no lift.

My partner and I stayed at the Manor House Hotel this weekend, and as Guilfest and a number of other events were all occurring this weekend, rooms available in Guilford were rare and expensive. We booked Friday and Saturday night, and there were weddings on both days. We were given room 7, directly above the bar and reception and had an appalling night disturbed by shouting, swearing and aggressive behaviour outside from some 'guests' before they finally staggered home at 1.30/2.00am. 30 degree heat and no air conditioning or fans meant we couldn't even close the window on the racket. It is hotel policy to put non wedding guests at the front of the house so they are not disturbed by the noise from the function room. Having discovered there was another wedding on the Saturday, I expressed my concerns and we were offered another room overlooking the pool at the back of the hotel. Packed up and moved and not overly disturbed by the celebration, we looked forward to a better nights sleep. And then our neighbours returned to their rooms.......paper thin does not adequately describe the walls. Use your imagination as to what can be heard! I know a hotel cannot beheld responsible for the behaviour of its clientele but insulation would go a long way! Ok rant over..in summary, the majority of the staff were very helpful and empathetic, the breakfast buffet was very nice, readily replenished, the grounds are very pretty BUT this hotel is very tired, lacks any kind of vitality, needs massive investment and to be realistic about its room tariffs on busy weekends in its current state. A bit sad and sorry.

Thank you for your very kind comments. Unfortunatley our system does move prices depending on occupancy and when there are several large events happening in the area the rate does increase this would be the same as all othe hotel groups.

Reading some of the reviews makes me think that some people were either very unlucky or just very hard to please, especially in regard to the food.

Our deal included a two-course lunch in the spa, where tables had been set out for us in the bar. All eleven in our party were satisfied with the lunch, likewise the three-course dinner later. On both occasions, the staff were very helpful and friendly.

The buffet breakfast was superb - nothing was over or under-cooked, and the scrambled eggs were perfect.

Our room was clean and comfortable, though we did feel the complimentary tray was a bit on the sparse side. Loads of specialist t-bags, but only three regular ones, and three milks.

There was some confusion over the bill at the end which wasn't helped by the fact the hotel had put names to the rooms which weren't how we were allocating them ourselves, and they had rooms being paid for by the wrong people, so outstanding amounts also attributed to the wrong people!. Not sure if this was something that could have been avoided by the staff, or whether we should have clarified it sooner.

The lack of a mobile phone signal/internet connection was a minus, though some might consider it a plus.

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would definitely go back.

The bar and restaurant staff in particular were brilliant.

Room Tip: Room 31 was perfectly adequate and very quiet.
