Reviewed 3 November 2013

We have stayed at the Georgian hotel a couple of times now. The first time we stayed we were attracted by the 'buy one night get a second half price'. We managed to get a room that was in the spa side of the hotel, the room was well furnished and nice and quiet as it was well away from the road. The bathroom was a little tired and could do with a quick freshen up as the water leaked from the shower and the extractor didn't work but other than that it was fine. The bedroom itself was a good size and the bed was nice and comfy.

We didn't end up eating in the hotel but it always looked busy and when passing by the food looked good so that is as far as I can comment on that. We managed to use the spa facilities on our second trip and were pleasantly surprised with what was on offer, we used the swimming pool and steam room and had a look around the other bits and pieces - it was all to a high standard and excellent value for money as it was included in the stay.

Finally as it had its own off-street parking that was another advantage as parking in Haslemere can be a nightmare and expensive.

All in all we really enjoyed our stay at the Georgian it was great value for money, the facilities on offer were excellent and the staff very helpful! We would definitely recommend and definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for the Spa side of the hotel to avoid noise from the road.

The location of the hotel is great. Rooms are clean enough and the swimming pool and facilities are what you would expect. Check the menu on the website and check with the hotel if this us actually what is on offer. We found out the hotel had been taken over in March and the menu offered at the restaurant bore no resemblance to the online one. The menu selection has reduced dramatically and is of a far lower standard. The wine selection is awful. After 2 bottles sent back we decided to not try anymore. The wine was cheap and chemically. For a break the hotel is fine, just don't eat of drink here unless you like burger and chips and a beer.

This was my 2nd stay at the Hotel and this time, I went with a friend of mine for a girly spa weekend. Check in was swift & friendly with a nice chap helping us with the luggage to our room on the 2nd floor (No:48 in the eaves). It had a double & single bed in the room which was a tad on the small side but adequate. It was however, dirty. There was thick dust on top of the wardrobe (which I found when placing a holdall on there), dust inside the wardrobe shelf where pillows were stored. Dirt around the cushion of the chair, stains on all of the little cushions and runners on the beds. Thick green stains on the window sill outside and cobwebs on the ceiling and curtain rails and walls on either sides. The tables were sticky to touch and the bathroom was in need of a re-fit as there was black "gunk" underneath the tap on the bath and the laminate floor was "blown" from water damage and stained by mould.
We did find the cleaners still on our floor and asked they go over the rooms again but even after that, it still wasn't done. I'm by no means fussy and appreciate older buildings will show signs of wear but there is no excuse for a hotel not being clean, especially the common areas as the breakfast & bar area could do with some bleach and TLC.
To top things off, we got a call the following morning to say the Therapist had called in sick as she had been poorly all night. Not a problem. I appreciate this does happen sometimes however, for a Hotel to offer "Spa days & weekends" I was surprised that only one therapist was on for the Sunday and there did not seem to be an organised Plan B for this eventuality.
Eventually, someone was able to come in and offer massage treatments (I had booked something else so did not take this up but friend did) but it left us both feeling a little deflated.
We did use the Spa on the sunday but again, it looked like it needed a good clean with peeling paint, stains on the walls and murky jacuzzi. The best thing out of the spa was the steam room by far.
It's a shame that this Hotel and facilities could be so much better if someone gave it a bit of financial investment and a good shake-up. The Staff were pleasant enough and to their credit after I complained, we came to a mutually acceptable compromise but with more thought towards cleaning the place up and a little bit more organising, we shouldn't have to be put in a position to complain in the first place.
As an aside, Haslemere itself is nice & quaint with a small High Street offering individual boutique shops and eateries. "Hemmingways" opposite offers great food and drinks followed by The White Horse Pub further along from the Hotel on the left. Nice shopping was done in East, browsing in Luigi's and purchases from the local charity shops finished off a nice afternoon though! Lots of little "knick-knack" stores to while away a couple of hours before heading home. A good place for a quick trip away!

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms seemed more spacious. 2nd floor corner rooms small and in the eaves.

We married here in September 2011 (bit late leaving review – so apologies)

Our wedding was seamless. The chair covers had arrived the night before all creased, and Nicole the wonderful receptionist (now a wedding planner there) stayed until around 2am ironing them for us. (She was meant to finish at 11pm). We had both our ceremony and reception here. The entire wedding day was perfect. Chris (one of the managers) was a star. All the staff were great. All our guests enjoyed their food (we were too overwhelmed to eat) The bridal suite we were in (the newer one) was perfect too.

I highly recommend the Georgian House Hotel for your special day. (My sister married here in 2013, and friends have also chosen this hotel for their big day)

We stayed here for two nights to meet up with friends and have a short break. The check in at reception was less than welcoming, our room was basic but a good size in fact a larger bed would easily have fitted. We quickly realised that there was a function on the first evening when the DJ asked us to move our car so that he could unload his equipment. We ate in a lovely pub in the high street and came back to the thumping sound of a wedding in full swing! Great for the happy couple and their guests but not for others staying in the Hotel. The second night was the same with yet another function going on until the early hours. We attempted to order drinks before once again going out to eat on our second night, but were told we would have to wait as the bar staff were serving guests in the function room!! Breakfast was adequate but if you had not filled your plate by 9.30 the hot food was not replenished. The pillows were dreadful, lumpy and not very clean, I made the mistake of looking in my pillow case which contained two very thin pillows (presumably rather than one decent one). Check out was again unfriendly and chaotic, our friends bill came to less than ours although we had booked both rooms on the same basis. I wonder how many mistakes are made by the very young staff who seem to run this poor excuse for an Hotel.

we booked this hotel for a stopover on the way to a funeral in portsmouth ,we paid £82 for a room for 3 adults that inc breakfast and it was cheaper than a premier inn or similar so you have to bear that in mind when reading reviews I think .Our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the high st ,haslemere is a lovely town and this was a bonus, the room was spacious and had character ,i would say it was a little dusty in places , the bathroom was in need of a refurb also, the sheets were clean and the bed was firm. The staff were friendly and helpful and a late checkout wasn't a problem. We ate in the restaurant it was quite good and comparable to other eateries in the town ,we loved the spa facilities it was quiet and relaxing with free apples! Overall we thought we got great value for what we'd paid and would stay again.

Room Tip: front rooms are noisy

Disappointing hotel given its pitch as a charming spa hotel. Room very basic with only bare essentials, although it was a good size. Walls very thin so we were woken at 6am by the sound of a baby in the next room - they were just babbling at a normal level, not crying so not particularly loud, but due to lack of sound proofing we could clearly hear them. Also quite noisy plumbing and sound of room doors closing so not exactly conducive to a lazy Sunday morning. Bathroom looked tired and in need of updating. In fact whole hotel needs a facelift

Breakfast was ok but nothing exceptional. Reception and waiting staff were pleasant and helpful. Can't recommend it I'm afraid and wouldn't stay again. Unfortunately our first choice of hotels in the area were fully booked but I expect they were much nicer
