You will be provided with fresh towels, two pillows for each bed (firm and soft) and there is a private sink and mirror in both bedrooms. Hairdryer, iron, ironing board and vacuum cleaner are also provided. There is a large double bedroom with king size bed, a spacious twin room, a living room with oak fireplace, a large kitchen (with dishwasher, dryer, washer, oven, microwave and fridge freezer) and a fully-tiled bathroom with large walk-in shower. You are renting the entire apartment, and your privacy will be respected at all times. Full instructions on everything will be provided, but the owner is only a phone call away if needed. Fast cable wifi is free of charge and our Samsung Smart TV provides instant access to all catch-up services. There is a electric stove, USB sockets in the kitchen, DAB radio and docking/charging station for your iphone or ipod. All bills are covered and there is instant hot water in our dual-outlet shower enclosure. We have spent a great deal of time and care to provide a comfortable home-from-home, close to all the amenities that Tyneside has to offer. Please respect this, and other homeowners in what is a residential area. This is not the apartment for you if you want to have loud parties late into the night.

Return trip - twice as nice
This was a second stay for us. Dylan is a great host, not too intrusive, but on hand if you need anything. The flat is lovely, an ideal location for us to visit family in the region.

A Hidden Gem
Please don’t be put off by the thought of staying in Bensham.. the apartment is fabulous , beautifully decorated and presented .. much more comfortable than a general hotel room Also in a great area to get around Great communication with the owner as well Highly recommended

Warm, cosy, clean and homely
A very well kept property, nicely furnished throughout. The kitchen and bathroom especially were immaculately clean which is a big thing for me. Everything you need in a short - medium term stay. thanks.

Lovely short break
We,Family of 4, stay in the Cottage for 6 day. Every time when we come back after being busy exploring North East, the Cottage met as with warm welcome. Beds are so comfortable,fast broadband and adequate heating system. Kitchen is small,but compacts. I love cooking and there was enough space for me. There is everything what people need for self-catering. Street is very quiet,with landscape view. Neighbors are helpful and friendly. Very good roads access.You can reach any points of interest with no time. Cottage is wery well maintained. Well done. 10 of 10. We definitely come back in the nearest future. Best wishes!

Coalminers Cottage
Although the Tyneside Flat should not be confused with a cottage, once inside the thoughtful touches did give a similar cosy feeling to it. The whole flat was immaculate and all the fittings and decoration was to a high standard. Beds were very comfortable and dressed in high quality bedding.We would definitely book again. The only reservation we had was that there was only a coffee table at which to eat.

Simply Superb
Lovely base staying at Coalminer’s Cottage while visiting friends in Newcastle. Spotlessly clean and finished to a really high standard, this apartment is also quirky and a bit different. The owners have provided loads of home comforts (Netflix, wifi, smart tv, powerful shower, dishwasher, etc). They have also combined a comfy, cozy feel with an arty twist - unusual prints, old photos, etc. Lovely place to come back too - much better than a hotel - and just 5 minutes from the city centre. Dylan, the owner, can’t do enough to help. Will be back!

Comfortable and Cosy Place
Really nice place, decorated beautifully with a very cosy, comfortable feeling. The kitchen is well-equipped, with good appliances, and the shower is great. Beds are really comfy, so you get a great sleep! The on-demand TV service is also good for when you want to relax with TV or a movie. Internet is fast. The location of the property is also good... very close to a tasty bakery and the leisure centre (with gym swimming pool etc), and handy for getting a bus into central Newcastle. The car parking situation is very convenient - there are always available spaces. The owners themselves were also very helpful and accommodating. We had an excellent stay!

This is a very lovely appartment. Ideal with 1 or 2 kids for a short stay. Its only a few miles away from several tourist locations.

Comfortable, clean and great location
Beautifully decorated, well equipped, comfortable, warm, quiet, great communication with owner, great view from upper window, lovely park nearby, can walk to river 20 mins, friendly corner shop owner! Highly recommend.

Really pleasant flat
This accommodation was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Both the bedrooms were a good size and every room was decorated to a high standard. Although the parking was on street we never had a problem parking outside the house. We would definitely recommend this flat to friends.

We are a £5 taxi ride from Newcastle's Quayside (one of the city's prime locations for bars and restaurants) and a £7 fare from Newcastle Central Railway Station (2 miles away). At the end of Rectory Road, the No 54 bus takes you into Newcastle's city centre in just 7 minutes. The apartment is just half a mile from the A1, so offers easy access for travel north and south. a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute bus ride takes you to Gateshead town centre, where you can access the Metro network for underground rail travel to the coast (South Shields, Tynemouth or Whitley Bay) and across Tyneside.

How to get there
The apartment is less than a mile from the A1 Motorway. Come off at the Lobley Hill junction, turning right at the roundabout to follow signs for Gateshead (B1426). Go over the first roundabout, and one set of traffic lights, then right at the second set (along Saltwell Road). Take the first left up Whitehall Road, then after a few hundred yards, take the right past the corner shop (Lifestyle Express), along Rectory Road, and you will see the front door of the apartment building (blue door) at number 161, a few doors along on the left. You can park anywhere as long as you avoid the double yellow lines.
