The museum is not very big, it's actually quite small if you compare it to the major museums in cities like London or Paris. However, it is still very interesting and worth your time to pay it a visit. It houses a broad range of artifacts and other things on display, spread over a dozen of subjects including Wildlife, Ancient Egypt, the Hadrian's Wall, Minerals, the Angle-Saxons and so on.

Another good thing about this place is that entrance is free. Furthermore, it's quite interactive as well so if you're with kids that's plus!

Thank Alexandre C

The Great Northern Museum offers very interesting exhibitions especially for people who are interested in nature, history and settlements in former times. The exhibitions are well organized.

Based in Newcastle, United Kingdom, The Great North Museum is easily accessible via local transport, and the place to educate the whole family about the past.

Prehistoric monsters | An Egyptian mummy | Ancient armoury and Ancient utensils, are just a few of the exhibits on show. There is a planetarium(chargeable) and a small cafe/restaurant.
Best of all, it is FREE entry :)
