“Needs updating!”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

So I we were up in Newcastle for a wedding and I booked this as a last minute thing. We requested a room with double bed but got a room with twin beds and worst of all the heating in the room was not working. No one was round at night to change rooms. (Reception closes around 10pm). General cleanliness and décor needed updating. Overall not impressed will not be returning there to stay.

I had to find an hotel suddenly at 6am so booked by phone and walked round there. Friendly guy said room was not ready as they were still full from night before but allowed me to sit in lounge with free coffee which was a relief.
As the guests came down for breakfast the place really livened up but I found it strange and somewhat disconcerting that a group of mid twenties girls came for breakfast in bare feet and pj,s!
Not the hotels fault but not great for other guests as they obviously hadn't washed or showered.
My room was ready by 11am so I was shown up and was pleased it was clean and spacious en suite double.
Unfortunately the shower drain was partially blocked so before I was finished I was treading in scummy water.
The breakfast next day was "full English" but small although there was juice and cereals also.
All in all worth the money and close to bus stop into town, about 4 stops

Stayed for the weekend, hotel was very clean and the staff are very friendly.
Only problems were 1- the shower drain was blocked which meant you were paddling in lord knows what & 2 - there were a shady looking group of lads from the Midlands staying for the weekend, complete oafs they were, coarse language, lots of noise etc and the smell they left behind was revolting I was very nearly sick! Despite this I would stay here again

Stayed here with 2 other girls, had a single and a double bed. En suite room, sink was in the bedroom and bathroom had no room to stand so no choice but to get ready in the bedroom in front of friends. Only mirror was a small face Mirror no good for girls getting ready to go out. Didn't try breakfast as it was only until 9:30. Taxi from here was only around 4 pounds. All in all cheap clean hotel however could do with some updating

Staff get 5* as they are extremely nice but overall experience not that great. Arrived here very late in the night and was welcomed by very friendly and polite owner/manager who showed me around and carried my luggage, a real gentleman.
I stayed in a double en suite room. At the first look room was clean and fresh but very cold! I tried to adjust the heater but it was completely cold, unfortunately it was to late to ask anyone help. On top of that ,very thin duvet and uncomfortable hard sprung mattress made my night sleepless, not ideal if you have an important interview next day morning...
Decent breakfast but really tasteless coffee was quickly served by two nice ladies. One of them was very kind and also reserved my taxi.
There was no complementary shampoo in bathroom! have realized it when was already in the shower. Had to use my face wash instead...
At last, I found it very unusual and strange when cleaner suddenly entered my room without even knocking door, that was uncomfortable situation.
Dear owner, the bed in room no.12 definitely needs a topper and maybe some extra blanket, hmmm and this coffee and shampoo...
Nevertheless, the price was a bargain so you have to expect some surprises.

Hotel staff were polite and helpful although we had to pay £25 pp whilst checking in as a deposit incase there was any damage, we did get this back in the morning however.
Our room was one with en suite but was freezing cold as the window was wide open when we arrived. The shower was awful and had black bits floating around in the water when I was in it. The main problem in our room was lack of lighting there was only one very dim light for the whole room and no mirror in the bathroom. Was a nightmare to see to put make up on and no full length mirrors to see your outfit. The breakfast was lovely and the beds were fairly comfortable but overall reminded me of the cheap bnbs you get in blackpool.

It says style and comfort on the banner outside there is no style.... And the comfort ain't upto much the beds were terrible we were here for my stag do so weren't staying in the rooms much but we didn't even want to shower as the communal showers were minging.. The towels that were in the room (1 towel in a twin room?) smelt of chip fat because they dried them in the kitchen... We didn't even stay for breakfast cus the place was dirty and didn't wanna risk it....If i was going back I'd pay extra and go to a travel lodge... The only positive is the staff were nice apart from the bloke on nights was abit mardy..
