“A Great place to eat and chat”
Reviewed 29 March 2014

I loved this restaurant the atmosphere was welcoming and attractive.
The evening special menu is good value at £18:99.
The staff put you at ease and make your feel at home in a professional but informal way. They have a good knowledge of the menu too , which is always an asset .
One of our party wanted the main course to be spicy, they happily adapted the dish, which was great.
I found the food tasty and fresh , with some nice choices.
I would be happy to return any time and recommend it to friends and family.

“Great place to eat casually”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

Terry (owner) has yet again succeeded where others fail.6 years ago I came to this Italian it had just opened, bright breezy, easy but efficient style, nobody hectic or chaotic, just an ideal atmosphere. Here we are ^ years later saying the exact same comments. The blonde restaurant manager has grown in size and looks the real deal now, very polished and good front man.Food, beautifully cooked, well presented and presented with simplicity.Lovely place to start or end any night...........an absolute jewel.

“Very enjoyable”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

We went to this restaurant as a visitor to Newcastle from the south with no knowledge of what to expect. It happened to be a BYO evening so we were lucky to get a table, and there was certainly a buzz in the restaurant. The staff were welcoming and very efficient. Our order was taken and we loved the bread to eat until our food arrived. I wish all restaurants would do this. We both choose the lamb dish, which was delicious and very attractively presented. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our evening spent here.

“Great lunch venue”
Reviewed 13 March 2014

Near the Law Courts/Quayside, it is in a good location both for parking and strolling. We often lunch here or Cafe 21 just around the corner. Same owner. Upon entering, meet and greet is welcoming and efficient. Quickly seated with menus and drinks. Don't know the name of the guy who served us but throughout lunch he was friendly, attentive and thoroughly professional. Hang onto this young man, Terry Laybourne, he is an asset to your business. Lovely bread to keep us going until our fresh and perfectly cooked langoustines arrived. Followed by lamb and vongole. You don't get good quality, fresh ingredients like these by accident, someone there knows their business. Chef used good products and presented beautifully flavoured dishes. We could have been in Italy. Altogether a lovely lunch on a beautiful spring afternoon.

“Really disappointed”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

We visited this weekend with some friends and we were really disappointed.

We arrived and were seated at our table. It took another 10 minutes ( at least) to attract the attention of the staff. No-one asked what we would like to drink and (probably not their fault) but set the table next to us and generally ignored us.

The food was decidedly average I had sea bass and mediterranean veggies - hmmm very plain. The other diners had a mixture of pasta and fish and all said the same " bland and uninspiring".

To top it all they added £12 to our bill as a tip. We didn't pay this as a.) its cheeky to add to a bill for 4 people and b.) isn't that a reward for good service and food?

Not the review I normally like to write but I don't like feeling ripped off.
