I stayed at the Hotel du Vin for four days, part business part pleasure. For a small additional charge, they upgraded me to a really beautiful room, with an integral bath, private terrace and huge wet area.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. I ate twice in the hotel, and the food was excellent and not too expensive.

The hotel is on the quayside, about a 20 minute walk into the centre of Newcastle. Don't be put off by the location - it is a lovely walk along the river, with spectacular views of the bridges. If you time it right, you may get to see the Millennium Bridge doing its daily tilt!

I enjoyed my stay so much, I didn't want to leave, and would definitely stay there again.

Booked the Sunday night special where you get your room for £10 for a standard double or you can upgrade for a little bit more and as it was hubby's birthday went for one with a private terrace and the sun shone. We checked in early and had lunch there which was very good even though we just had a sandwich The staff were all very welcoming and professional and full of information and advice which we appreciated. Had a lovely walk along the quayside in the sunshine and then came back for dinner which was amazing and again the staff were so informative about the food and the wine choices. We love coming back to this lovely hotel

Room Tip: All rooms are amazing

I recently stayed at the Hotel du Vin on a Sunday night (when the hotel often has an excellent deal where you can stay from just £25 if you spend £75 in the Bistro). We upgraded to a maisonette style room which is on two levels. The room was fantastic and very comfortable. The bathroom was very different being on the upper level with a roll top bath and huge walk in shower. The bathroom is almost on a balcony looking over the bedroom. We ate in the bistro and the food was of a very high standard and the Chef was actively speaking to customers and very happy to take special requests. The staff in the Bar were also very kind and great company (especially Paris) and the young man who was on late, who’s name I forget who made an excellent espresso martini. Sundays tend to be quite in the hotel and I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking to stay for a special occasion / or who is looking for a hotel that is something a bit different and special.

Room Tip: Splash out on an upgraded room

I have stayed here a few times with my partner, we have dined here twice and the food is of high quality and local produce. The staff are friendly and professional and give great service!! The rooms are beautifully furnished and have a nice cozy feel to them and also are big and spacious! The bar is a bit quiet and i prefer the atmosphere of the Malmaison but much prefer the rooms here!

Room Tip: All rooms are fab couldn't get better!

Just returned from a 1 night stay at the hotel du vin. We arrived early and were allowed to check in early which was fantastic as we were going to newcastle races. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Our room was amazing! I have my list of 'favourite hotels in the world' and this is definately up there. We stayed on a dinner bed and breakfast basis which was superb value. Dinner was great although perhaps a little pricey if you were having to pay for it. We will definately return soon.

Room Tip: The mezzanine rooms are just beautiful

I found this hotel after researching hotels on Newcastle Quayside, whilst I'm from Newcastle I hadn't heard of it before and I was a little worried as the pictures of the hotel rooms seemed generic to the Hotel du Vin properties.
I had no need for any worries or concerns... we arrived on a beautiful Saturday July afternoon to the terrace buzzing with people and the music was in full swing and BBQ fired up.
The reception staff were very helpful and escorted us to the room, The Chapel Room, the room was a melony of blacks and white, very tastefully decorated.
Our room was a mezzaine style on the ground floor was the bed and toliet, and the upstairs had a huge monsoon style shower and a double free standing bath which sat on a balcony over looking the bed. Needless to say we were extremelly impressed with room which was topped off with a Nespresso machine!
The location of the hotel is excellent within a 5/10 minute walking distant from the resturants and bars on the Quayside.
The next morning we opted for a full English breakfast in our room, the only negative feedback i could give about the hotel was the room service breakfast was small and we were missing some of the condiments (butter for our toast!)
