“consistent quality”
Reviewed 19 January 2014

Have stayed here a number of times over the last five years, and the quality of comfort and service has remained consistently high. The restaurant and bar are always welcoming, and staffed with polite professional courtesy. Only drawback is necessity of parking on the street.

Room Tip: A suite is a rewarding step up and worth the extra

Absolutely amazing stay recently. My wife and I stayed in August and to cut a long story short it was not a great stay. Room too hot - air con not working - if anything could go wrong it did.

However, Rob and his team have restored our faith after a recent stay. Staff/Food/Housekeeping absolutely brill. Food - extremely good and would recommend the Fish. Breakfast - extremely filling and lots of coffee. Last time we stayed on a Sunday and Sunday Brunch is a must. Amazing value for money! Yan one of the Waiters is very attentive and ensures you feel special.

We did not want to leave after our two day stay. Left feeling totally relaxed. Amazing stay. Looking forward to returning.

Thank you so much to Rob Tait (General Manager) who was so helpful in organising my special celebration for my husband on 27.12.13, thank you Rob...

This hotel is fantastic, fabulous rooms and fabulous staff/service, well done everyone. It is the first time we have eated in the Bistro and it was delicious, we had fillet steak and all the trimmings, so tasty!! The cooked breakfast is to die for and we have this every time we visit, which is at least 3-4 times a year for pleasure. Keep uo the gteat work, Karen & Steve.

Wonderful night, good D,B &B package with upgrade to great room (grande dame I think it was called). Service excellent. Food good although not amazing but nothing that took from the whole experience. Really enjoyed it. Get there early to enjoy the facilities of the room, too good to just sleep in!

Although we live in Newcastle I booked this as a last minute suprise treat for my husband, for his birthday. The welcome on arrival was warm and friendly, the check in was swift and a very pleasant young lady, glaswegian I beleive, showed us to our room - Laroche.
I do think that it is a bit much having to pay £10.00 for parking but I won't hold that against them.
The room lived up to expectation, large, airy and spacious, the free standing bath was darling and the bed immensely comfortable.
We ate in the restaurant which was very busy however the service was more than satsfactory. The food was extremely good, nice seasonal fayre but with some very nice quirky twists - beef bourginon on the bone!
We had a few drinks in the lounge then retired to bed, the room was so quiet we didn't hear anything until room service at 9.30am the next morning.
Weheard great things about the Sunday brunch so will definitely return for that!

I booked this hotel as a little surprise Birthday treat for my boyfriend. Check in is at 3pm, we arrived promptly however were informed that housekeeping were still preparing our room and we would have a 15 minute wait, but were offered a complimentary drink at the bar, which was appreciated. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming, as were all the staff we encountered on our stay. We stayed in Dom Perignon (the loft), the executive suite, with twin rolltop baths, a 9ft bed, twin showers and two plasma screens, what a treat! The room was beautifully clean and in a quiet area of the hotel.
The hotel is of course famous for it's Bistro, however the room was simply too beautiful to leave, so we ordered room service, of course you don't get the same menu as the bistro, but the burgers were fantastic. Slight problem with a drinks order which did not arrive, but we were charged for, though a fault on my behalf, so I cannot complain.
The bed was beautifully comfortable, the best nights sleep I've ever had at a hotel, the bed sheets were like silk. The room of course, comes with little toiletries, all of which ended up back home with me.
We had booked a Bed and Breakfast, which includes a cooked breakfast, however decided to go for the Breakfast in Bed, which consisted of a few french pastries, jams and butter, a bowl of fruit/cereal and either a juice or hot drink, it was delicious.
The hotel itself is situated outside of the city centre, although not too far, we opted to take a Taxi, to and from, as we're not too familiar with the area.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we do plan on checking back in the near future!

Stayed and ate for the first time at this hotel yesterday, and I have to say what an excellent experience. Excellent room, fantastically well stocked bar and knowledgeable staff and a great restaurant with good food at very reasonable prices. If you are a smoker, then the cigar hut in the courtyard is excellent, it is both lit and heated with leather armchairs and cushions and blankets. So refreshing fir a hotel to actually bother about its smoking clientele. As an added bonus the current offer of a room for £25 if you spend £75 or more in restaurant just makes it better. The room was very comfortable with a well stocked minibar, nespresso coffee maker and a good sized comfy bed. Well done to this hotel, we will be back.
