“Fantastic stay!!”
Reviewed 10 May 2014 via mobile

My new wife and I stayed here after we got married as we couldn't get away on honeymoon yet. We had heard the food was great and wasn't disappointed. Girls on check in and restaurant staff were very good. Special mention to Nick who looked after us. Room was amazing too. Huge thank you to all!!! We will be back

We've stayed a number of times in the past and have loved this hotel and this was no exception, this time we ate in the restaurant in the evening and although expensive - it was beautiful, the food and service were excellent, I really couldn't have falted any part of it. Breakfast food was good as usual, however i did think the service was slow and not especially attentive - we had to ask to order and weren't served again, even though a coffee would have been nice to finish off - a minor complaint really. Would definitely stay again, a beautiful hotel with wonder staff.

I meant to write this review last year. We went for the wedding of our daughter. ..she had to go there and I now know why. It is wonderful. The staff are the best I have ever seen. They made us all feel really special but then they made everyone feel special. Out of 5 I would it 10.

From start to end the experience was amazing. Staff we're very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing. Best continental breakfast I have ever had. Wife enjoyed the omelette she had, although veg options were limited (but we did not ask if there were other veg options). Room clean and view of the Tyne was brilliant.

Bath in the bedroom a bit odd but it did not seem out of place! However two really minor issue which were a flush handle not set properly and no hooks for towels in the shower cubicle (which was amazing and massive by the way) which is why I can't give a perfect score - sorry!

No sure how much it cost, as it was organised by my wife, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

We booked with the settle in Sunday offer which was 25 for the room if you spend 75 in the bistro. We got there at 2 pm and checked in early and found a anniversary card off the manager in the room, what a lovely touch. The room, even though it was apparently a standard room was beautiful! We had afternoon tea which was nice, then had a look round the gorgeous hotel. Then we had an evening meal where the staff went out their way to make it special and we got free champagne. The wine was great and the wine waiter knew all there was to know. We will be returning very soon thank you x

Room Tip: The standard rooms are amazing, not what you would call "standard"

Stayed again at this hotel as we love the rooms. Some staff are lovely but the restaurant is a disappointment. Breakfast is average but expensive and the service is terrible! They really need some management there on a morning to make sure the staff are actually doing something and not just stood around. Would return as the rooms are very relaxing but would probably eat breakfast elsewhere.

Stayed for 2 nights in Apr 2014 and had a lovely stay - staff very welcoming and friendly - from reception, bar staff, restaurant and housekeeping. Room had some lovely touches - husband particularly happy with the Nespresso machine. Only downside to the room was that it was boiling hot and I couldn't get the air con to generate enough of a breeze! Food in the restaurant was to die for - breakfast the best ever (and I've stayed in a lot of hotels!) - and dinner divine. Chicken liver parfait starter and salmon main course very tasty indeed...
Location was good - just a short walk from the city centre. There are more central hotels, but taxi home at night was only about £4 so not a problem. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Upper floor if you don't want to overlook the courtyard
