OK while you're waiting for a train. Usually quite busy though.

The Centurion is located in Newcastle station, and is absolutely incredible for a railway station bar/cafe in terms of atmosphere and service (can't say much about the food as didn't have any!). We had tons of luggage and this wasn't a problem at all, there was loads of space round the sofas and coffee tables. A real-effect fire was right next to us to keep us warm.

The room is nothing short of stunning, and has all the period features you could ever want from massive high ceilings to wall hangings and ceramic tiles. Seats are very comfortable and plenty of them, although it did go to standing room only at lunchtime.

We had three hours to wait between a train and a bus, and whiled away the time very happily here. In that time we had two cappuchinos each, two packets of biscuits and a slice of carrot cake, as well as access to the wi-fi (free for customers). Even when it got busy no one badgered us to order more of leave. We also managed to spill one of the drinks as soon as it arrived. Not only did a member of staff come over to clean it immediately, but we were also provided with a replacement free of charge. Staff were also very friendly and smiley.

We are looking forward to coming back on our way home!
