“Winner Winner Delicious Dinner!”

If there's one table you're guaranteed to win at in Asper's Casino it's got to be in Freya's restaurant. I went there with 5 friends last Saturday evening after a friend told me it was a favourite of his. Being inside of Asper's I was worried it might be noisy and the food might be distinctly average. Thankfully though, I trusted my friend casinos best!

There's nothing craps about Freya's. The steaks are high quality and odds are you wont have tasted a better cooked steak anywhere before! The starters and main courses were beautifully presented and there weren't any chips left on our table by the end of the main! Desserts were delectably indulgent and the sticky toffee pudding with belgian waffle crust was to die for!

We were all really impressed with every aspect of our meal inlcuding the wine choices and the atmosphere: a friendly warm welcome and elegant decor meant none us felt like we were even in the casino.

You dont need to be a high roller to eat here either, food is reasonably priced and most definitely worth the spend. I wont be gambling on what restaurant to choose next time I go out for a meal in Newcastle, Freya's hits the jackpot!

“The best unknown restaurant in Newcastle.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

The menu was always first class but the recent change has elevated the offerings to a new level. If you're a meat lover the steaks are unrivalled and the deserts are a revelation. The Sunday lunch is easily the best I've had after trying many carvery or pub style lunches. They also have special offers at certain times of the week which adds to the appeal. The restaurant is in a casino which may off putting for some, but once in the restaurant you are completely isolated from the noise of the gamblers, which isn't that loud anyway. Friendly, efficient staff, relaxing atmosphere and a spacious feel, which all makes for a memorable dining experience.

“Hidden gem. Very talented chef!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2014 via mobile

Decided to dine following some great reviews on here.

Open restaurant so you can see the casino. Had bread and olives whilst deciding - lots of bread and olives were lovely. Had a bottle of house red (excellent value at £10) and the duck salad to start - delicious! The steak for my main was cooked to perfection and we had the 3 sides for £5. Totally stuffed and really enjoyed our meal. Will definitely return and highly recommend!!

“Another fantastic visit to this hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014 via mobile

Having been once before and been really impressed with this restaurant I decided to return for a second visit. I was certainly not disappointed!!
The restaurant is tastefully decorated and has a lovely relaxing atmoshere away from the gaming floor.
We opted for the burgers, they were cooked to perfection and the garnish and chips were delicious. The house wine was of a high standard and the staff were attentive and very friendly.
I will be visiting again very soon and urge anyone else to do the same.
