Staybridge Suites Newcastle
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 25 August 2012

Staybridge Suites Newcastle is a wonderful place to stay. The staff are the friendlist and most helpful I have ever encountered in a hotel. The facilities are excellent. When in newcastle don't stay anywhere else

Staybridge Suites Newcastle is located near the Manors metro station (about a 10 minutes walk with suitcases) and is about 1/4 mile from the Millennium bridge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gateshead_Millennium_Bridge) on the Newcastle Quay (a long walkway with restaurants that runs along the riverbank). We stayed here for 4 nights in a 'mini-suite'. There are two types of rooms (mini-suites which are one large room that includes a kitchenette and a suite that has a separate bedroom area from the kitchen). The rooms are spotlessly clean and very functional. The small kitchen was well-equipped with a small dishwasher, 2 hob stove, microwave, and cookware/eating supplies for two people. The room included a two person recliner couch, flat screen TV, queen size bed (comfortable mattress with duvet and 4 pillows), and a counter that served as both a table and work area (nice lighting for working at night). The bathroom had a fairly large walk in shower (bath soap and shampoo available), toilet & small sink area. There was enough room in the bathroom for two people to get ready in the morning.

Breakfast (included) consisted on juice (4-5 types), cereals, bagels/bread, mixed fruit, yoghourt, scrambled eggs (family style), beans, sausage, and 'hash browns'. Coffee and tea were available throughout the day. On Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings there is a reception from 6:30 - 7:30 with complimentary wine (white/red) and beer (draft), cheese/crackers, carrot/celery slices, and potato chips. The staff must all be on Prozac because they were always smiling, pleasant, and seemed to generally like interacting with the guests! Not a grumbly person in sight!

Additionally, there is a laundry room with 6 washers & dryers (complimentary). Laundry soap (.75p) and other sundry items (soda 1pound) were available at the small store located in the lobby. Parking is located behind the hotel and is reasonable in cost (5 pounds a night?).

I will definitely stay here again. (I already booked my next visit.)

I have stayed at this accommodation on numerous occasions and have never been let down by the standards or indeed the service offered by the wonderful staff, nothing is too much trouble. The reception area is welcoming and so relaxing that you forget you're so close to the centre of Newcastle.
The rooms are furnished to the highest of standards and are well equipped, the one bedroom suites perfect for families. I would recommend that anyone visiting Newcastle to stay at this gem of a property , you certainly wont be disappointed.

I stayed here for two nights with my niece who stayed there just over a week on her visit from the USA. The apartment she/we had was clean and comfortable with everything you could need. The breakfast that was included in the price was very enjoyable with lots of choice. They have 24 hour reception where you can serve yourself unlimited tea coffee ect all day long that is included in the price. They also have a communal exercise room and laundry room. I have only one small gripe-we were on the 4th floor and none of the windows opened and the fan in the bathroom was a bit feeble. They don’t clean on a weekend and we made the mistake of having an Indian take a way on the Friday with the leftovers put on the bin so by Sunday you could smell the bin.
The staff are great and nothing is a bother to them. One lady in particular called Josephine was very warm, pleasant and helpful and was really good with the 7 year old we had with us. The staff always greets you with a smile. My niece travels a lot and has stayed in some top hotels and for the money she paid here she would definitely go back. On this visit to the UK the previous week she stayed in London apartments that were three time the price and were no better than these apartments. I would definitely stay again when I visit Newcastle.

An apartment hotel just above the Newcastle Quayside and Gateshead Millennium Bridge, opened 2009, all very stylish and modern. About 15 minutes walk into the city centre via Mosley Street and Buxton Street, or use the Q buses from either side of the Millennium bridge. It's a 5-min walk to Quayside but up a very steep flight of steps and through a belt of social housing.
We had a 6th floor room (607) with the most superb view over the Tyne and its bridges. Really excellent and friendly staff. Ask for an odd-numbered room on the 6th floor. A nice touch was the Mon-Thurs evening glass of wine and nibbles, and an even nicer one the Japanese salarymen piling their plates high! No restaurant and none we fancied nearby.
Car park £8 per day, but you can park free after 1830 until 0800 on street nearby and £1/hr at other times. 24-hr free parking near St Ann's church about 100 yds away.
A few minor niggles. The windows cannot be opened, and the comfort cooling could not be set below 67F/19C, which does not make for comfortable sleeping in hot weather. Also very thick duvets are provided - we had to take out the quilt and just use the bag.
Bizarre electrics and teletext disabled on the TV. Good easy free broadband but low bandwith.

My wife and I booked in for a brief, 1 night stay en route to Scotland.
After asking, we were given a room with fantastic view over Newcastle and its bridges. The room was extremely well equiped other than a missing remote TV changer which was replaced in minutes.
Very luxurious and modern bathroom and comfortable bed and chairs. With no opening windows, temperature control was fine if a bit noisy but fan could be turned off
Quite well located about 10 minutes walk from all the action in Newcastle's buzzy Grey Street.
Breakfast was very well set out and suited us in what it offered. Coffee was especially nice

Would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for view if you get a chance

We stayed here to go to a wedding nearby. The accommodation is brilliant with everything you could possibly want. Nice spacious rooms. The location is just a short walk from the quayside but far enough away to be nice and quiet. The staff were very friendly and we were able to check in extra early to change before our wedding. Shame there isn't more of these hotels.
