Staybridge Suites Newcastle

Having stayed at the Hilton the last time we visited Newcastle and not enjoying the experience (uncomfortable bed / noise from adjoining rooms and corridor) we were looking for an alternative and came across the Staybridge reviews on Trip Advisor.

So glad we did as it was a very pleasant stay. We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who gave us a run down of 'how it works here'. She very kindly booked our taxi for later that evening.

We stayed in a studio which was decorated to a high standard. Plush fabrics / comfortable bed linen. No bath but large and powerful shower and lovely big thick fluffy white towels! Very clean, in fact the hotel still had that 'new carpet' smell. I would argue that the 'kingsize' bed they advertise is in fact a queen / large double, but it was still comfortable and we did have a good night's sleep.

We heard no noise whatsoever from adjoining rooms or outside (ceiling to floor windows don't open but there is a very good / quiet ac system). Corridor noise was limited to just one idiot who thought it acceptable to laugh and shriek at the top of their lungs at 12.30am, otherwise peace perfect peace!

We booked via the hotel's website for a reasonable rate which included a continental and hot breakfast selection (hot included very tasty cheese omelette, sausages and beans) cereal, toast, fruit, yogurts, all the different milks and juice also available. The 24 hour pantry is a great idea, especially if overcome by chocolate munchies at midnight, however we did not use this thoughtful facility. There is a daily parking charge.

A swift and hassle free check out; we enquired about the development of future Staybridge Suites as we will definitely be using again and although there is only Liverpool and Newcastle open at the moment, they are currently building in Birmingham and London - great!

A short walk back from the Quayside, although it is uphill. Between 5 to 10 minutes walk from the Swanhouse Roundabout (Linekars / Metro Radio building next to the Tyne Bridge) depending upon how much alcohol one has consumed!

As a native of Newcastle I am very pleased Staybridge has arrived and I will definitely return when visiting for a night out again.

I have never written a review before, but this hotel impressed me so much I feel compelled to. As other folks have mentioned, the hotel is a little out of the way, but really it's only 5 minutes to Quayside and 5 to Northumbria University (where my conference was). The room was great, kitted out with full kitchen, a very comfortable bed and great shower. The breakfast was fantastic, they even had soya milk which is a rare find in hotel buffet breakfasts in any country. You could have hot or cold breakfast, virtually anything you wanted. And the complimentary drinks and nibbles from 6-8pm were a great touch! All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Newcastle.

Stayed here for three nights last weekend. Really can't fault it. The location is on the outskirts but a five minute walk to the right and you are on Pilgrim St (city centre) and a five minute walk straight ahead brings you to the Quayside right beside Malmaison. We were welcomed and shown around the facilities, where to get breakfast, the 24hr shop, the laundry room and gym and told about the management reception that night ,which we went to and had a glass of wine and some nibbles(cheese, olives tortilla chips and dips etc). We had a studio room which had a king size bed, bathroom with a great shower but no bath, and a kitchen with fridge ,microwave, dishwasher and lots of utensils inc a pizza cutter, bottle opener, tin opener etc. They also left a welcome tray with a cafetiere, coffee, tea ,milk ,water and crisps and a bottle of beer in the fridge! You can get takeaways delivered too if you want to stay in and watch TV. Breakfast included cereals, croissants, bagels, muffins, yogurts, fruit, and a couple of hot items that change daily, maybe omelettes, bacon ,sausages, beans.
All in all I loved the concept, everything is still very new and would highly recommend it.

The hotel is in a quieter area of Newcastle but within a 5mins walk of the blinking bridge. It takes about 15mins to walk into central Newcastle for the shops. I arrived by air and took the metro to the central station and a taxi, yet the hotel must be really new as the taxi driver had never heard of it.
When I arrived the place looked modern and stylish from the outside, its on a corner. The reception area is homely feeling and the staff member who checked me was very helpful. She explained that all the rooms are suites, breakfast is included in the cost and there is free tea and coffee in the lounge all day. I arrived at 18:30 and the person told me that Mon -Thurs between 1800-2000 they have a after work party with a drink and some cheese. Which is a nice touch.
I was allocated a room on the sixth floor, I had asked for a quiet room and the room faces the rear. The rooms at the front on the high floors have views across the river to the Baltic.
I booked a 40m2 suite so the room was huge there is a separate bedroom and a lounge with a full kitchen, microwave, hob, dishwasher and large fridge. The lounge has a large flat screen tv and another one at the foot of the bed. There is even free wifi in the rooms.
All the stuff about the place is about welcome home, they have a multi-gym area, a laundry room and a 24h pantry area yet the prices are quite expensive.
From check in to check out the staff are friendly and helpful this a great place to stay and I would thoroughly recommend it.

Stayed here on the night before my wedding. Staybridge suites are pitched as a home from home, which they feel like in a way. Downstairs you have a kitchen, a lounge and upstairs a bedroom. Admittedly I dont have a 24hour gym and laundry room in my house but I dont have 200 bedrooms either! Having the option to mingle and grab free drinks at suppertime is quite cool and the all night free coffee machine was excellent - though I probably shouldnt have gone for the cappuccino when I couldn't sleep due to pre-wedding nerves! I stayed in the studio style apartment which I got on a last minute offer but otherwise the hotel can be quite pricey for short stays as it is really aimed at slightly longer business stays. Staff are friendly though you only see them on reception. The rooms themselves are well thought out and a free beer in the fridge is always a nice touch-not having a bottle opener however is a massive oversight in a "fully stocked kitchen". Parking is easily available outside so don't pay for it at the hotel! (the non hotel car parking seems to be closer than the paid for hotel car park!) Location is a bit naff, the front rooms at the top have tyne views but not all rooms do and I just had a view of the car park. It's in quite an out the way area, so no good if wanting this as a city centre hotel.
In total a good hotel aimed squarely at the business user market.
