Great place. We got a fantastic room on the 6th floor with views across the river to the Baltic. Room was well appointed with a full kitchen, lounge, bedroom and bathroom. Toiletries were good and environmentally friendly re-fillable bottles. Reception area good, tea and coffee on all day, with muffins and biscuits. Newspapers and comfy chairs too. A couple of streets back from the quayside. Handy for Malmaison and La Tasca. The only quibble I'd have is expensive car parking £8 for overnight.

Arrived to a very friendly greeting and allocated a room on the 6th floor with great views. The room was actually smaller than expected but very clean and well appointed. Breakfast was surprisingly good with adequate choice. Free paper and unlimited tea / coffee also good. I would knock half a mark off if I could because I think the car park is a bit expensive - but this is made clear beforehand. Ideally located for the Quayside and the city centre.

We stopped over on the way to the Edinburgh Festival. It is a really comfortable, modern and convenient appartment hotel with ample parking. The staff is friendly and the service good. The streets immediately around the hotel are not special but it is only about 300 metres down to the Gateshead Millenium Bridge over the Tyne to the Baltic Centre. There are waterfront restaurants but it is also an easy walk into town.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Staybridge Suites last weekend, as we were in Newcastle for a wedding. We picked this hotel on the strength of the excellent reviews on here and we were absolutely delighted that we did. We had an absolutely fantastic stay.

The first thing we noticed when we arrived was the security around the hotel. To enter the hotel through the front entrance, a room key is needed to open the main set of doors (it was explained to us that as the reception desk is around the corner, they can't keep an eye on those doors 100% of the time) and a room key is also needed to access the car park. It's a detail that few hotels consider but does help to make you feel extra secure. The reception staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, from them calling me by my name at the desk before I'd even told them who I was, to the short orientation tour to make sure we knew of all of the facilities available to us and times for the cheese and wine reception and the included breakfast.

We stayed in a one bedroom suite and we were delighted with it. The layout was user friendly, and I liked the fact that the bedroom was separate from the living and kitchen areas. The quality of the fittings and furniture was very good- modern and contemporary. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had excellent water pressure, although perhaps the water could have been a bit hotter. The suite was absolutely spotless too. The hotel advertises satellite tv and usually in UK hotels, that means about 3 or 4 channels such as Sky News, Sky Sports 1 and a couple of other obscure channels along with the other terrestrial ones. Not so here. I was surprised by the amount of choice available which may not seem like a big deal if you're not planning to spend much time in the suite (although it's almost a shame not to!), but it's great when trying to wind down after a long day. The basics such as tea and coffee were always replenished and the crisps, bottled water and bonus bottle of Becks were all made use of by my husband, which we thought were a nice touch!

We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and liked the laid back nature of it in that we could help ourselves to everything and sit where we wanted, instead of having to hang around and wait to be seated, and for someone to come over with a pot of coffee if they're passing. The choice of items were varied- plenty of cereals, yoghurts, fruit, pastries, muffins, cookies etc as well as the 3 hot items daily. These changed from day to day- sometimes it was scrambled eggs, bacon and beans, other times it was cheese and tomato omelettes, sausages and beans. All were plentiful and tasty and we never had an issue with any item running out. We had breakfast every morning in the lounge although had we not had so many early starts, we may have taken it back up to our room and had a lazy breakfast, which we could have done had we so wished. The 24 hour coffee/tea machine was heaven. I always made sure I had a latte in the morning and an earl grey tea to take back up to the room with me before bed. Big thumbs up for that!

We made use of the onsite parking at the hotel for convenience more than anything, but we found it to be reasonable. The hotel seems to aim more towards longer stays as the parking costs alter accordingly. Because we stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, the parking cost was only £5 a day but if we had stayed for 2 nights for example, it would have been £8 a day. If I'm not mistaken, the cost comes down again on stays of over a week. Like I said, we found it a reasonable charge but it's something to bear in mind if planning on a short stay.

As for the location, it's not smack bang in the middle of everything but I much preferred it that way. It's near to the Quayside but it's nice to be able to walk back to the hotel and have peace and quiet to go to sleep. It's a bit more of a walk into the shopping area of the city, but not a really long or unpleasant walk. To drive, it would be less than 5 minutes.

All in all, we can't speak highly enough of Staybridge Suites and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. It was like a home from home.

A lot of thought has gone into this service. Really is home from home., Great faciilities, and staff could not have been nicer. I went as it was voted No 1 on trip advisor for Newcastle, and I could see why. Brilliant location. Loved the relaxed arrangements for breakfast, the coffe on tap throughout the day, the honesty shop, courtesy beer in the fridge in your room etc. Have booked to stay again - just suggest you book in advance as prices are more reasonable if booked more than one week in advance.

Great set of serviced apartments in the true quality of InterCon chains.

Rooms: great with all the modern settings. As a business traveller, it's excellent having a bit of extra space (feels homely), a mini kitchen, excellent mod cons (flat screen tv etc). A colleague did have a few instances where her room wasn't clean, so not always up to scratch.
Location: close to the quayside, so it's an easy walk to restaurants
Staff: pretty helpful
Facilities: very small gym but OK, great breakfasts, free drinks from 6-8pm, and a pantry for self-service.

I like it. The only downside is not having room service available which, when you're there regularly, can be annoying once a week. Otherwise good.
