“Enjoyable enough”
Reviewed 1 March 2010

I stayed here with my wife as we were visiting her hometown on her birthday.
The guy at check in noticed it was her birthday and upgraded us to a room with a great view towards the Tyne bridge etc which she really enjoyed waking up to and made the visit a bit special.
The area the hotel is in is a tad distant from the city (20 minute walk) and not overly picturesque. It does cater towards longer stay business clients I would say but it was very well appointed. The plumbing in our room (603), was quirky and after each flush of the wc the cistern "banged". The shower had one of those "slow draining" features which left you standing in a puddle of water and the refillable shampoo/soap dispensers had nowhere to be placed in the cubicle leaving no option but to put on the shower floor! Breakfast was ok if not a little hectic. The toaster did not work and staff apologised for this .On check out I was met with an "extra £8.00 charge" for parking which was not evident or indicated on my booking process and I don't think that kind of thing should be a surprise! (maybe you have to search to find it?) There is a graded charge (gets cheaper for longer stays) sign which is shown on exiting the car park but not entering!

An excellent place to stay - great location, and a very relaxing way of doing things. Really enjoyed having space, and the facilities to suit ourselves. Drinks reception after work is a great idea, as is being able to take your breakfast back to bed with you. They have a little shop behind reception that sells food and drink, and there's a supermarket just up the road. It's very handy for the Quayside restaurants and bars, and not too far into the town centre itself. Staff were helpful and friendly, and quick to sort things out when needed (our electricity tripped a couple of times). Would definitely go back.

Me and my partner come up to Newcastle quite frequently and always choose this hotel to stay at, the staff are friendly, its located a good short walk from the city centre but a taxi ride is not expensive either, they have a big car park which we've never had a problem getting a space in and you can leave it in after you have checked out too which a lot of places don't let you do! Rooms are very nicely decorated and always clean, bathrooms are brilliant and have lovely showers. Beds are big and comfy, and the TVs are a good size. Can't recommend this hotel enough.

Good location, excellent rooms and even better, excellent and attentive staff. I chose this hotel based on tripadvisors reports. Thank goodness I did, being on a training course I wanted peace and quiet and that's what I got. The suite was perfect and due to the kitchen I could work and eat at the same time. The staff were without exception excellent, always helpful and smiling, they seemed to enjoy there work and that always shows in this industry. Perfect place for business travellers and those who like a quiet hotel, no stag parties here. There is no bar but you can buy drinks 24 hrs a day from the pantry and drink them in the lounge etc. There is a managers reception 3 times a week where you can have a drink and get to meet other guest. Breakfast was good with hot and cold options in the form of self service. Lets hope that more staybridge suites open up I will certainly use them again.

Stayed on a Saturday night in January. Check-in staff friendly and helpful, room (King studio) was very good size with lovely bathroom and extremely comfortable bed, and the complementary hot drinks machine in the lobby was a nice touch. Also liked the little honesty-shop. Very good choice at breakfast as long as you aren't expecting a full English.
Only little niggle is that the price doesn't include VAT which is pretty easy to miss on the website.
Will definitely stay here again.

This was the first time that I had stayed in this hotel, I have stayed in most of the other hotels in Newcastle and tried this one for a change.

Public areas are well furnished with ample seating.

The free coffee all day is a nice touch, and the coffee is pretty good. Managers reception Monday - Thursday from 6pm-8pm is a great idea, never seen anything like this anywhere else. Free drinks and snacks.

Staff on check in were excellent, as I had not stayed in the hotel I was given a showround of the public areas.

Breakfast was very good, full size boxes of cereal to choose from, fridge with full size cartons of orange juice and milk that you help yourself to. Breakfast items were frequently restocked by staff.

I had a studio, there was plenty of room, kitchen area was better than I expected it to be, it even had a dishwasher. Bed was very comfortable, a lot better than most other hotels I have stayed in. Bathroom was great very modern, shower is fantastic. Toiletries in full size bottles are in the bathroom none of those tiny bottles of shower gel to be seen!

I was very impressed with this hotel and will definitely stay there again.

The StayBridge Suites is a real class business orientated hotel. This hotel far surpassed any Ramada or Ibis hotel I have visited to date. These are the new-style American chain hotels with every mod con at your disposal, a real 'Home from home' with dishwasher, pots and pans, fridge freezer, plasma TV and hi-speed internet. I stayed here for 2 nights but could have stayed longer as it felt like your own luxury penthouse flat.
