“Middle of the road place to stay”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

The accommodation isn't very obvious from the road as it's tucked behind a wall and gate in the middle of a residential area.

The main doors to the building aren't automatic which is awkward. Reception was very efficient for our late check in but we weren't assisted in any way, given any local information, engaged in any form of conversation or informed there was no lift to our 1st floor room!

The room we were allocated was freezing on arrival. We discovered this was due to the window being open. It was broken but after a number of attempts managed to get it closed properly. The wall heater was put on and quickly warmed the room but then turned itself off.

The room was a great size and well equipped so would have been good for more than a one night stay.

The bed was average and with only one pillow which wasn't sufficient at all.

The carpet hadn't been vacuumed before we arrived and there were bits all over the floor. There was the odd mark on the sanitary ware in the bathroom too.

We'd paid for a deluxe / superior room and at £45 for a mid week didn't think the cost was too bad and was glad we'd paid an additional £5 as wouldn't have liked to have stayed in the older part of the building.

Check out was fast.

All in all a pretty nondescript short stay but without any major issues

My son and I stayed here at weekend (15th March) for concert at Metro Arena, on first impressions at the outside of building we were both a little afraid of what the inside may hold. It looks very dated, and old fashioned, like the stereotypical motel.... However....
On entering the small reception area we were greeted very warmly by Sarah on the desk, and given our room key. Room was spotless, and functional. Beds were really comfortable, en suite bathroom was immaculate! Overall, I was very impressed and would use this place again on future newcastle visits.

spent a weekend here- very clean and comfortable, rooms more than adequate. TV, coffee making facilities.. Friendly staff- easy walking distance to town- buses if you need them close by. Didn't try breakfast-so can't comment. Ample car parking space - would definitely go there again. Only complaint was the rooms were a little bit warm!

The Rooms Inn is a great quality for the price. It is a 10 minute walk from the center of Newcastle, which was great. I did not have a car, but it has ample parking for those who do. The room I had was very spacious and had its own bathroom, which was somewhat difficult to find in Newcastle in this price range. It came with coffee/tea facilities in the room, along with some bottled water. It also had shampoo and soap in the bathroom. Our room also came with a hair dryer and an iron/ironing board. I did not have a problem sleeping, but it is very easy to hear people in the hallway late at night (so if you have trouble sleeping, maybe bring earplugs just in case people are noisy).

My only complaint would be that when we came back to our room for the night, we found that while the bed had been made and the coffee/tea re-stocked, the shampoo and soap had not been replaced and the garbage was not emptied. It is not a big deal, especially since reception will gladly give you whatever you need, but it would have been nice to have the room completely made up and cleaned.

Overall it was a great stay for the price and I will stay there again the next time I am in Newcastle!

Most of the reviews that are bad are probably related to the basic rooms as they are small but still are very clean and have the essentials that is a 2 star room. We stayed in the superior double room which was 4 star room was only £15 more and was 100% worth it. Very stylish and spacious room and bathroom. The hotel was very quiet and overall tidy and clean. Will defo be staying here again but i would recommened that you upgrade to the superior rooms.

Me and my partner stayed her from the 21/02/2014 till the 23/02/2014. it was a lovely wee budget hotel the staff were friendly and the hotel itself was very clean. when we arrived we were greeted by a nice young girl at reception who was very chatty and then showed us to our room. the room was a good size and very clean we had fresh towels aswell. its very central for the city centre its only a 10 minute walk away. but if you are not wanting to walk you can get a taxi and it will cost u no more that £4. On the second day of our stay I was out having a cigarette in the morning on my way back to my room the lovely girl from reception called me and asked if i needed any more clean fresh towles. there was also shampoo and bodywash in the hotel which we didnt no expect as it was only a budget hotel there was also a kettle with tea coffee sugar and milk. the did have breakfast but we didnt eat from the hotel so i could no comment on there food. there is a lovely little bar called the pacific house that does two full english breakfasts for £5 and its lovely. there lunch and dinner menu in there is also fab they also do two cocktails for £6 so its worth a vist. I would come back and stay at rroms in as the staff were very friendly and hotel itseld was very clean. dont listen to bad reviews i dont understand why people who pay so little for a hotel but expect way to much we will be returning again in the future
