“Lovely street to wander in”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

Very nice architecture. Sad point is that most of the bars and restaurants are chains... It is a world trend...

“Take a self-guided tour of the centre of the City”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014 via mobile

Drop by the Information Center on Grey Street and either take the 10:30 am tour or, as we did, a self guided tour and discover a wonderful side of Newcastle that none of the other single point attractions come close to. It's divided into two parts and the staff in the Office will print out the guide sheet. DO NOT MISS the Arcade behind the Office where the guided tour starts. Grab lunch in the extraordinary Grainger Market where there's the original Marks and Spencer penny store. Each part is advertised as 1.5 hours but could easily be 2-3 hours or 45 mins each.

“great architecture”

The architecture on this street is great. There are several good bars and restaurants on the street, as well as the theatre royal.

“Grey St/Gray's Monument”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2014

If you like people watching and shopping, this is a great place to start. Watch for the Hen parties that start early in the afternoon on the weekends and go late till the next day. Lots of good fun.
the view down Grey St. to the Quay is beautiful and stunning. We stopped at Di Marcos' cafe and had real Belgian chocolate hot chocolate under the umbrella street side while it poured rain, what a real treat to experience this, we also had an artichoke salad and grilled panini, I'd go back there again, it was oh, so good. The people are friendly and there is a lot to shop around and some castles and history too. Zip lining off the bridge looked like fun but we did not get that done. Lovely walks along the Tyne. Visiting once is all you really need here, but its a good little stop along a longer journey. Lots of places to eat and visually see architecturally
