Service great, food questionable.

Received great service from staff who were friendly and attentive. From our table we had a view of the kitchen, from here me and my friend saw that a microwave oven was being used, next to the kitchen door in full view and I saw them use it to heat up not only the onion bahjis that we ordered but several other dishes or parts of dishes. I would not expect this from such a reputable restaurant. Dissapointed.

thank you for your review Mark. I'm sorry that you were disappointed at the sight of a microwave in the kitchen.

The microwave is an integral of the kitchen - there is no way that with the complexity and range of dishes can be brought to your table within 15-30 minutes of an order.

There are several items that prepped by the day chef, or example the specialist slow cooked dishes take approximately well over 10 hours to cook, we cook these once a week, chilled and the microwave is used for defrosted purposes.

The pilau rice takes well over an hour to cook and is prepared in the afternoon, the rice is kept hot in Bain marie's ready to serve , however when it has to replenished the rice needs to be heated in the microwave up to the legally ambient temperature prior to transferring to the Bain Marie's.

Even simple items as hot chocolate fudge has to be heated in the microwave as do hot gulab jamans.

I hope the above has given you a little insight of a working commercial kitchen.

Best food I've eaten in Newcastle!!!

We were shown to our table by Mas who tended to our every need he was very knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu and recommended a few dishes we may of liked, the tables were clean and all staff looked smart. A great atmosphere in this restaurant I would recommend that if you ever visit Newcastle Upon Tyne then the other place you MUST visit apart from the Millenium Bridge is Luigikhans. Food does NOT get better than this, and the staff are guided by Mas who has a vast knowledge of his menu and a fantastic rapport with the customers, will definitely return to eat there in the future!!

Another successful evening at Luigikhans

Our party of eight all had different items on the menu and everyone was very happy with their food. Wonderful service from all the staff, and the strength of the food was spot on. Highly recommended 😄

Really tasty food!!

Absolutely fabulous! Lovely food, great atmosphere! The coconut rice was really tasty and we had food on recommendations from the staff.....brilliant choices!!
