“Just what you'd expect from a Primier Inn”
Reviewed 29 August 2011

Stayed here for a couple of nights for a short break, and it was fine. The location is a little away from the Quayside but only a few minutes’ walk. It’s in a generally quiet area and unlike the nearby Quayside Premier Inn, the car park is free. You can park either outside or under cover. Reception is on the floor above the entrance door but there’s a lift so that’s no problem.

The hotel itself is standard Premier Inn layout and décor, clean, tidy and unpretentious. The room was likewise clean and tidy. The only problem is that the hotel (like most Premier Inns) isn’t air-conditioned and the room was rather hot at night – we made good use of the supplied fan! Having said that, we had no trouble sleeping.

The in-house restaurant was good, and average-priced (even the drinks). Try the Pizza – it’s great! Breakfast is either a reasonable Continental buffet or a full English all-you-can eat affair for a couple of pounds extra, and is good.

The staff were friendly and helpful, providing additional pillows and extra tea/coffee for the room when asked.

Overall, a good Premier Inn and we’d have no hesitation in staying there again.

This must be one of the oldest premier inns and it's now starting to show its age. It was very hot and humid during our stay and despite fans being provided it really needs air conditioning in the bedrooms. It also meant that we had to leave the window open which meant we could hear the nearby church clock chiming away. The curtains didn't close properly either and need to be replaced.
Against all this however it has to be said that the staff were both efficient, attentive and friendly. Breakfast was very good - freshly cooked and hot. Usual spacious room with everything working although water pressure could be better. Location is perfect, being very convenient for the quayside, millenium bridge, biscuit factory and baltic exchange and the sage across the river. Free parking either outside or undercover is a huge bonus.

Bottom line - would we stay here again? Probably yes but get air conditioning installed please.

Recently stayed one night breaking up a long journey further north. Excellent location close to the Quayside, Sage and Baltic. Plenty of decent bars and restaurants nearby. Rooms standard Premier Inn, clean and tidy. Breakfasts good and hearty. Free parking too which is a godsend in a big city these days.

As always, no complaints for a Premier Inn!
Rooms were the usual, big comfy beds & clean!
Rooms were very very warm at night even with the fan & air con on but it was warm during the time I stayed here.
Staff were all helpful & friendly though they did ring me the day before my stay to see if I wanted to make a dinner reservation which I thought was strange!!
Hotel is around a 3 minute walk from the bars, restaurants at the Quay.

Had a one night stay at this Premier Inn for a night out in Newcastle. Chose it because back from the Quayside which we had heard could be very noisy. Within easy walking distance (less than five mins) to the bridge, bars and restaurants. Staff very very friendly and helpful, even offering to go and buy me painkillers for a bad head! Hotel doing its best to encourage guests to be quiet and respectful of others but still woken by people talking outside the room at 2.00am. Absolutely no noise once in their room though. One drawback was that we had a room facing towards the church which chimes hourly throughout the night!!!! Next time, will ask for a room on the opposite side of the hotel. Recommended for a budget hotel. Didn't charge full price for brekky either as only had a couple of items.

Fantastic value and great location. Stayed on the 31 May 2011 in two family rooms for one night. Rooms were spotless. The staff were just so friendly, not overbearing but so helpful. Parking is easy, free and secure. Breakfast a treat and kids eat free. Internet £5 for 24 hours.

Room Tip: We were on the 2nd (top floor) which was quiet.
