Would absolutely not recommend staying here. Whilst the room was lovely and service generally good, the cleaners threw away some of my belongings. I was promised phone calls which did not materialise, and after emailing to complain was told it was mistaken for rubbish and wished luck in finding replacements. Beyond appalling.

    Room Tip: A different hotel?

I stayed here with friends in August 2013, The hotel from outside looks quite posh and the reception looks lovely! But I did not expect the rooms to look like they would in the 1960's.. very outdated rooms, Wouldn't recommend for younger people. As we stayed in summer - the rooms were absolutely roasting even though heating was switched off and windows were open. Rooms were also quite small and there wasnt even a decent TV. Only good thing is the location, Hotel is in the city centre close to nightlife and shopping. Wont be returning..

I stayed at The Vermont on 2nd July for the second time, the first was on a business trip. The hotel is placed in an excellent location for the city centre with free parking which is why I had initially booked this for business. The rooms are clean and comfortable with some refurbishment currently being done.
The reception, lounge and bar area are decorated and laid out very tastefully. It is placed beside the railway, so expect train traffic noise, however this is still a very well positioned choice of hotel.

Attended wedding at St. Nicolas Cathedral weekend of June 21, 2014. The hotel is walking distance from everywhere. Spent 3 nights and our group had many rooms, with no complaints.
The rooms could use renovating but the views from the 10th and 11th floors were awesome.
The dining was great. We had our breakfast included and it was very good.
The concierge service was unbelievable. Especially Stuart, this man is the epitome of class and
pays attention to every detail. He treated the entire wedding group like royalty.
Stuart deserves honors for his efforts and actually the entire staff was excellent.
The hostess that seats you for breakfast was so wonderful and the servers follow her led.
If you need anything, just ask and they will kindly get it for you.
We would all recommend the Vermont Hotel, as we all had a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: ask for high floor overlooking the bridge.

We arranged to go to the North East to see my wife's family and the had a short break in Newcastle. We booked this hotel with no real knowledge and were very pleasantly surprised. It is currently being refurbished and the public rooms have been very well done.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and we ate in the restaurant on Saturday evening which was a good standard. The Wine and Dine option is great value. I would definitely stay again.
