Stayed here after attending a wedding at the hotel. Got a family room at a discounted price being part of the wedding party. Wouldn't have wanted to pay any more than we did. The family room we got had two double beds and still had lots of room. Beds were really comfy and I can be quite fussy. Bathroom was nearly as big as the room although there were quite a few cracks in the cistern and tiles. Shower was amazing mind and was only one over the bath. Very powerful. Room was slightly dated as other reviewers have noted. I think the biggest issue is the carpet - bright blue, yellow and red squares - quite garish/pub type carpet. If that was more neutral I think it would make a huge difference to the look and feel of the room. If you want a family room I'd recommend asking for room 109. This was totally different, very modern, looks recently refurbed. Had what looked like a king size bed and a double sofa bed. Breakfast was included and was buffet style with cereals, pastries and cooked options. I enjoyed it. The public bar is great too. Happy hour during the week is from 4pm till close and there's a spin the wheel on every round where you can get money off (e.g. 1/2 price, free, 10% off) which saved us a lot of money. All in all a good stay, no major complaints, but wouldn't be my first choice in Newcastle for the price.
