“BRILLIANT”
Reviewed 16 July 2013

From the moment you enter the RSH you can only be impressed in a BIG way.
We have stayed here before & the impression never leaves you,the fantastic wide twisiting staircase & chandeliers is something really to admire.Further into the hotel the corridors with there utter charm of oldie worldie & modern art decor, the rooms are fantastic with bathrooms just as fantastic.
We spent12 days here recently(June-July) &enjoyed every moment, the staff are brilliant, the rooms are cleaned to a tip top standard, the service in the restuarant is also 10/10,food,well try there fish &chips WOW,the rest of the menu is also very good.
As for the location it is perfect for EVERYTHING you are in the middle of the CITY with trains, buses & the METRO direct to the airport, plus the pulsating night life on the doorstep.
My wife & i will most certainly bemaking a return visit to this LOVELY HOTEL.

Room Tip: As the hotel is smack bang in the heart of Newcastle you cannot expect to find all rooms quite,so in...

I stayed to this hotel this weekend 13?07/13. I am a regular customer,i have stayed 3 times the past two months! This time was the worst of all, and made me think if i will ever stay in this hotel again! Saturday night after a night out i went back to the hotel with my brother and the doorman did not let us in. My brother was really happy to provide ID but the doorman, never let us up! I can understand that its his job, but i think he could use his desecration, since im a regular customer and i have never ever caused a problem!
Sunday morning was the icing on the cake! I had the,'do not disturb sign' on my door and firstly i got a call and asked if i wanted my room cleaned, which does not make sense since i didnt wana be disturbed. Secondly it was the noise the cleaning stuff made when they were cleaning the rooms near mine. It was as if they had a contest who would be the loudest.
I dont know if it has to do something with the fourth floor but all the times i have stayed on the fourth floor, the experience was really poor!
After this experience i will think twice before booking again!

Room Tip: Stay away from the fourth floor

A truly beautiful old building with grandiose staircase and chandeliers. Large rooms, tasteful contemporary decor and whopping bathrooms. Only thing is noise from other rooms. We were next to a group of Irish who returned to their room at 3am! At one point I thought the walls were made of cardboard the noise was so unsettling. Don't let this put u off tho. With a few tweeks I.e. a room at the back of the hotel away from potential Sat nt revellers might easily do the job! A great building that's left a lasting positive impression overall! A/C wud b a big plus for these hot July night's or at the very least a fan

Room Tip: Insist on room with a bath. They're huge!

Stayed at the royal station hotel from the 5th until the 7th July,we were visiting some friends in the area.
We were upgraded to an executive room (240) as there was one vacant which was very nice of the hotel especially when there was no extra charge !
We were very impressed with the friendliness and efficiency of the reception staff and generally everyone we spoke to in the hotel. The location was really good for going into Newcastle for a meal and a drink. The break fast we had on both mornings we stayed was very nice and overall it was a very pleasant experience staying at the hotel and we loved Newcastle as well.

Room Tip: We stayed in an executive room which was offered to us at no extra charge-room 240 it was very nice.

It was a fine hotel, not luxury, but fine. The location seemed to be great if you were going to Newcastle to drink and stumble back to a close bed!
We had two rooms, a double and a twin. The twin was a good size and the view was fab. The window opened allowing some much needed fresh air in a hot stuffy room.
The double, the bedding again was clean but i was a little upset to have to clean a splash of blood off the bathroom wall (it wasnt mine!). The double didnt have windows that opened and it was really way to hot in there with a quilt and nothing lighter.
We were told that everything in the fridge was free...whoop whoop we thought. We opened the fridge found a bottle of water a juice box and a two finger kitkat each. Class!!
Not sure i would stay again, at the £75 per night per room we were charged.

This hotel will never win any prizes for style or chic - but when it comes to good, old fashioned service and comfort it beats the competition hands down. The staff couldn't be more helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Location is excellent and rooms have everything you need. Be prepared to run the hot water for several minutes before it becomes hot and don't expect a cooked breakfast in your room, but do expect a spacious, comfortable bed, and do expect a cheery greeting when you come down to breakfast. There's a good selection at breakfast but - unusual in a hotel these days - they don't serve muesli. And why do they think they can get away with getting you to make your own toast? No-one wants to stand and wait around the toaster first thing in the morning. They ought to do away with this and serve the toast properly! Loved the pool though and will certainly be back again soon.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back look out onto the station, rooms at the front look onto the busy street. Take your...
