“Great Location. Great Room. Great Staff!!!”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

I stay in many hotels around the U.K. on business.
I recently stayed 5 nights at the Royal Station Hotel in Newcastle.
This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in, beautiful building, comfy bed, very clean room! The staff are helpful and kind, they couldn't do enough to make my stay amazing and relaxing!
Great Location. And great value for money!
Thanks xx

A lovely classic hotel with a beautiful lobby and very polite staff.
My son was recently married here and have to say it was lovely, the food was well presented, and tasty, the evening buffet was hot and plentiful, nothing was to much trouble for the staff and we really enjoyed our stay, only one issue, the heat!!! The rooms are not air conditioned so be warned!! But otherwise awesome and would highly recommend !!

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your kind comments with us, it is lovely to read such a positive review.

Weddings at the hotel are extremely popular because of our reputation of extremely good service and high catering standards.

I will happily pass on your comments to the staff who worked at your son's wedding they will be very appreciative, I'm happy to hear we made his special day a one to remember.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family back to the hotel in the future

Kindest Regards

Had a very quiet room as requested, only draw back was no view from the window (wall)
Very clean & very comfortable
Would be nice to have electric point next to mirror for when drying ones hair.
Lobbies smart & clean, staff very helpful.
Hotel very convenient to main Station also not far from shops & restaurants.
Newcastle was a very lovely City

Room Tip: Ask for quiet room with a window that looks out onto the outside world

My son and I stayed here within the last week, the room was clean, and the staff were very nice, I have a huge fear of life and they kindly came in the lift with us as we were on the 4th floor and I have a heart disorder or I would have walked up the stairs, my son took ill and they were very kind and offered to help us get to the local children's hospital if needed, thankfully we didn't have to but were grateful for the staffs help. Room Service was lovely the food was good, asked for more pillows and they arrived within 5 minutes. Amazing chandeliers in the hotel entrance and some of the original tiles on the stairs.

Room Tip: very loud at times but I wasn't sure if the noise was outside as it was loud music or the weddin...

We stayed in a superior room for one night as we had arrived on an evening flight to Newcastle airport. The double room had a four poster bed which could well have been home made. The furniture was dated, the carpet in the room was not clean and we had one towel between us. We requested more towels and were given two further bath towels - no hand towels and no bath mat. The shower was over the bath, inevitably it was not properly sealed so it soaked the bathroom floor, which was dangerous as we had no bath mat to step on to. The location was great if you need something close to the station and the nightlife. The staff were very friendly. The hotel was probably very nice many years ago, now it reeks of "faded splendour". For the cost we wished that we had stayed at the Hilton at the airport.

Room Tip: We had a superior room which included free bottles of water, orange juice and a kit kat, along with...

I have just returned from a stay in this hotel and one night was more than enough ,we were overwhelmed by the entrance to this hotel .stunning decor ,lovely staff all was going well until we finally found our room ,along a dark dingy corridor we entered the room to find two very large beds an adequate bathroom then we realised there were no Windows the room was claustrophobic to say the least .I rang reception to say how the room felt we were offered another room but we're told I was a long way from where we were and it had a window looking onto the main train station not wanting to be kept awake by noise we said we would stay in room 238 ,it felt like servants quarters it had an external window which faced the landing unfortunately it didn't open and no light came in .the air con was broken and the room had no air circulating it was unbearable neither myself or my daughter slept it was horrible .as I got out of bed I stood on something which turned out to be medication which concerned me as it could have been a toddler that had found it ,I googled the pill which turned out to be a form of viagra ,this made my blood boil to think the room hadn't been vacuumed since the last clients getting up to God knows in the bed I was sleeping in .a thoroughly horrible night I did complain when we checked out to a young receptionist who could only apologise ,they do not mention these stuffy internal rooms on the website I paid £ 98 for one night .totally disappointed they offer you a free mini bar and that is because your so hot in the room you need to drink oh and they send a fan which makes no reduction in the heat the noise keeps you awake .rest assured I will not stay there again and the medication I found will be sent to head office.

Room Tip: Check you're not getting an internal room and also check the aircon works !

We were given a free upgrade to a king size room. It was huge and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and newly renovated. The minibar included was an excellent touch. The staff were very efficient and friendly. The breakfast was excellent and gave us a great start to a long journey home. The convenience of stepping out of the rear exit of the hotel onto the station platform was amazing...... and we hadn't once heard a train.
The room was hot however, not too bad when you could open the windows through the day. The noise at night from the local party animals at 4am did not allow you to do this through the night.
All in all, it was an excellent choice to break our journey overnight.

Hi there,

Many thanks for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading such a lovely review.

We do our best to upgrade the majority of our guests to a larger room or a room of higher standard than they have booked.

The housekeeping staff pride themselves on taking great care in the service of rooms and public areas, so I will be sure to pass on your comments to them.

Being a city centre hotel noise can be unavoidable but I am pleased that this did not affect your stay at all. We do also have quiet rooms available on request.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the future

Kindest Regards
