Holiday Inn Newcastle - Jesmond

We enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel. Modern, clean and good service. Good size room with a nice bathroom and shower.
We visited the restaurant and bar (attached to the hotel) and both were very nice. Drinks were quite expensive but the service was very good. We paid extra for the breakfast - buffet style. Again nice food, no complaints. Good selection of hot and cold food.
Also free parking at the hotel which is convenient. Overall good stay - would return.

The receptionist was friendly and the hotel is spotless with a good breakfast menu , however I would not stay here again as the hotel was very noisy , with no input from security to address this . A wedding function kept us awake till 1 am with pounding disco music ( although we were on the second floor ) and at 4am, then came the onslaught from a group of drunken , foul mouthed males, who seemed to be trying to break doors down on my corridor for no apparent reason . We were refunded the cost of breakfast upon complaint .

Room Tip: On the highest floor possible

Shower stopped working twice on the first morning and again on the second morning despite having reported the problem after it happened the first time. Alarm call to wrong room as well. Pity because many good points but really let down by some off hand staff.

The hotel was easy to find and has a secure car park. This was important to us as we were leaving our car there for several days, at a relatively modest charge, as we went off on the Coast and Castles bike ride. The hotel also provided secure bike storage for the night that we stayed there.
Our room was clean and comfortable, if a bit on the small side. It was very quiet, which I liked. Breakfast was a bit disappointing. No muesli, and not much in the way of a cooked breakfast for vegetarians. Still, what was provided was OK. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: The hotel is located on a busy road, so for a quiet room avoid one on this side. Room 123 was very...

Stayed for 2 nights on business and found the whole place to be comfortable, clean and with friendly staff. Superb buffet breakfast and a good choice of on-site dining options for the evening.

For £60 a night, you can't complain.

Onsite parking that is right next to reception. Parking itself is sheltered so on a hot day, your car won't be baking in the sun.

Smooth checkin with helpful staff highlighting offers and amenities.

Getting to your room on a higher floor can be difficult as there are sub-level floors where rooms can be located, so hotel can be a bit of a maze at times.

Room itself is a decent size and relatively modern. Free water, coffee, and wifi is available. Both firm and soft pillows are in room already without having to ask.

Bathroom is a little cramped, but sufficient for a short stay. Could do with a little more lighting especially over the mirror as it's pretty dark in there.

Location of hotel is good, with a lot in Jesmond to keep you occupied, and the City centre being a short trip away.

Overall, a pretty good hotel and one I would return to if I need to be in that side of Newcastle again. There are other newer hotels down by Quayside, so it all depends on where you need to be located.

Room Tip: Make sure you get clear directions to your room as you can easily get lost if your room is on a mid...

Don't go by appearances. The hotel is very nice on the inside honest. Little things like a fridge with Kit Kats, water and orange juice are really welcome. Rooms are a little small but clean and modern. Nice touch is being able to record TV program's then watch them later. Good variety at breakfast and restaurant is good. Garlic bread is as big as the pizza, you have been warned. Only proem is getting into the car park with the hotel on your right as the road has a No Right rule. Always stay even though a little pricey.
