Holiday Inn Newcastle - Jesmond
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 27 November 2013 via mobile

Excellent service with very friendly staff. The restaurant is excellent and also has a bar that serves really good bar food. All in all this is one of the best if not the best Holiday Inns I have stayed in.

Stayed: November 2013, travelled with friends

we stayed here because it was close to a party venue we were attending
we walked into town on the saturday - 20 mins on a fine autumn day - wonderful

Our room was an executive room - very ;arge Bed very comfortable
I prefer to have a bath - and there was only a shower ( a very nice walk in shower)
but we knew in advance this was so so I cant complain

we did not use the restaurant - bur it looked very nice .
It is many years since we stayed in this hotel ( it was swallow imperial before)
it is looking much smarter
We will definitely consider using this again on our next visit to Newcastle

My boyfriend and I stayed at the holiday inn for an overnight stay to get away for a night. When we arrived the girl who checked us in was lovely very efficiently. The room was a good size with a double bed which I requested, a flat screen tv, a full length mirror which was fab. We never ate at the hotel restaurant so can't comment. This hotel is quite a bit away from the city centre but there this is metro subway which was fab about a 3 minutes walk from the hotel and takes minutes to the city only 2 stops. Would recommend this hotel and would return to this hotel if we ever come back to newcastle thanks for a lovely stay.

I thoroughly recommend this hotel for solo travellers, especially women . I was greeted very warmly and very well looked after by the friendly, helpful and efficient staff . I was allocated a quiet room as requested and it was spotless and very comfortable. My meal in Fratellos was lovey and good value, and although breakfast was of the dreaded buffet variety I was served freshly cooked poached eggs without a murmur. A good location and a very comfortable stay. I will be back.

Couldn't fault this hotel. Right beside the metro station at Jesmond for popping into Newcastle city centre. Wanted to stay here as it was near my son in Jesmond. Round the corner from Osborne Road, which is packed with Bras and restaurants. The only two faults have was the main bar was closed before 10pm on Sunday night, when I would have liked to unwind with a nice glass of wine, and the breakfast in the hotel was not great, considering it was £15.95 per person.
All in all, the loation made up for this.

Stayed in this hotel for years when it was the old Swallow Imperial hotel. Wasn't sure what to expect as hadn't stayed in it since it was bought over by Holiday Inn. Was not disappointed the hotel was lovely and the staff on reception and the bar were lovely. Will def be back.

Great location for this hotel. About a 15 min walk to Jesmond centre and very close the The Metro. Staff also very friendly and accommodating. Good spot if you want to explore the sights of Newcastle.

We stayed for a long weekend to compete in the Great North Run. They arranged an early breakfast on race day and put spectator info in the rooms which was a nice touch.

My only gripe would be the exorbitant price charged for the night before The Great north Run. I realise this is not unique to this hotel but it did leave a bitter taste when settling the bill!

Interesting experience when I ordered a cream tea and got cream cheese instead of fresh cream, but we weren't charged for the tea and coffee (I sent the cream tea back) so I left satisfied and without the calories which I didn't need anyway!

My tip would be - don't eat breakfast in the The Hotel, not because there was anything wrong with the hotel breakfast, but there are some lovely breakfast spots in Jesmond (Arlo and The Fat Hippo)
