I really can't fault this place. I pre booked my room with certain stipulations...no feathers, low level and no smoking. All were observed and the check in was very polite and helpful.

The gym is well equipped...not commercial gym standard;but enough machines and dumbbells to get a good work out. The pool and hot tub looked very clean and inviting (although I didn't use it).

I ate in the bar in the evening, which is busy, clean and inviting. The staff were very polite and attentive. The portion size was very good, if not excellent...although perhaps a bit overcooked.

The rooms are clean, spacious, well maintained and equipped.

Very good all in all. Perfect place for an overnight business trip.

made a return visit to this hotel for a weekend visit and could not find a fault with the staff or the service but unfortunately this time we were allocated a room at he rear of the hotel with no view except a large generator below us and although the room was spotless and the bed extra large and comfortable the noise of the generator which hummed constantly was offputting unless you were a heavy sleeperso be warned. We ate in the plate restuarant and the service and food was excellent with an added bonus of an entertainer singing while we enjoyed our meal and a dance if you so wished. This hotel has an extensive reception area with comfortable seating where you can enjoy snacks or a drink and watch the world go by. All in all a pleasurable experience but for the nightime hum

Room Tip: ask for a front view

We stayed to attend the races, which is a short walk away from the hotel. We booked on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate, which was very good value, as we upgraded to an Executive room and had access to the Exec lounge. Food for dinner and breakfast was very good, and we were lucky that there was a singer, with dancing, on in the restaurant on the night we stayed. All the staff and friendly and helpful, and the rooms spacious and clean.
Beds are comfortable and our sleep was only disturbed by some very inconsiderate 'drunken' guests! Would recommend this hotel, and would have no hesitation in staying again.

Room Tip: Upgrade to an executive room to obtain entrance to the exec lounge.

When I arrived I dreaded to think what I was going to find inside given the drab and dated exterior of the hotel. However, as soon as I walked in to the reception area I was greated with a glass of wine and a selection of snacks; really nice touch given I'd just had a really long drive to get there.

What sells this hotel is the service, the rooms aren't particularly modern but we were well looked after in the restaurant and if you do dine in the hotel, you've got to try the 'Black Pudding' starter, it was amazing!

The staff make this hotel. Give it a go.
