Fish and chips poor for North East. Exotic fruit salad consisted of melon and a few grapes. Disappointing.

If you want to have a lovely afternoon, book for afternoon tea. Nice sandwiches, cakes, good tea and very nice champagne. Topped off with fantastic views of the River Tyne!

This is a good place to eat either breakfast or your evening meal. The views are of the Rivers Tyne and some of the bridges. It is spacous, airy with minimalist decor and huge picture windows. Breakfast is the standard Hilton breakfast which I lijke. Evening meal is from an a la carte menu with plenty of choice. There is a lengthy wine list.

Tuesday night at 8pm and only 4 customers dining. The reason is that this place is serving 1980's pub food at 2014 prices. Brake brothers frozen food must be delighted with this contract!

Salt and chilli squid should be crispy not served in a like warm soup of salty soy and ginger "soup". The accompanying sesame prawn toast was clumsy and was soaking up the salty broth like a sheet of blotting paper. Truly dreadful.
Main course red Thai curry. Made from jar of sauce. Nan bread standard frozen food supplier fare. Again no skill needed to ping this in the micro we so why the £18 price tag. Hilton . If you are cozy cutting or can't provide decent food this diamond club member will stay elsewhere . The competition is out there. Take note!

As part of a group of five ladies we decided to treat ourselves to a champagne cream tea at the Windows on the Tyne restaurant which is housed in the Hilton Hotel Gateshead, for a very special treat for one of the girls who was celebrating her 65th birthday. When we arrived on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. the restaurant was very, very quiet, in fact only one other table was taken. We were shown to our seat by a very smart young waitress and we were all very impressed by how the table was set out so beautifully. Just a few minutes after our cream tea order was taken we were served with a glass of ice cold champagne which tasted wonderful and then along came the cream tea! It was absolutely delightful, there was a selection of four types of sandwich, three types of scone, various cakes (too many too mention) and some lovely little savoury canapés all washed down with endless amounts of tea and coffee. We paid £18.95 per head and we all thought it was well worth every penny.
