“A little bit of a clean wouldn't go a miss!!”
Reviewed 20 December 2013

I really love the food at The Fat Hippo but I just wish the place was cleaner. I have been two times recently and both times the cleanliness of the restaurant has been sub standard. I am only writing this in the hope that it will be noted as I don't want to stop eating at The Fat Hippo but it is quite off putting when there is old food everywhere!!!

“No wonder the hippo's fat!”
Reviewed 15 December 2013

Eaten here a couple of times now - it's a limited menu - burgers and more burgers. Still, they stick to what they know best - the burgers are great and come with a variety of toppings and either hand cut chips or French fries. It's a small place so worth booking.

The best burger in the UK!!!!!!
literally!
but the drinking glasses were not properly cleaned.
i'm not a fussy person but the glasses looked like the last time they were washed was a few weeks ago.

“Hmmm...Unusual Decor,Good food, Poor service”
Reviewed 15 December 2013

This is a most unusual restaurant , When I first went in I thought they were renovating with exposed wires and bare walls and then I realised this was the décor! Hmm...not sure about that.
The food was good but I thought the service was poor. The manager was not there that night so maybe its better when he is around,I had to wait ages for my bill because the waitress had her favourites to chat to! There is a good mixed clientele and it is not expensive.
Worth a visit but I would not be a regular .

“Had better...”
Reviewed 18 November 2013

Came as a large party for a friends birthday on Saturday night. I guess they are in the process of decorating as the chairs where full of paint and VERY uncomfortable/not much room. The meals came fairly quick, I ordered the texas BBQ burger with skinny fries and a vodka, lime and lemonade (the lemonade is beautiful...) The burger came raw inside so had to send it back, as was a other peoples - I hate raw/pink meat and I guess if thats 'how they cook it' (as the woman said), then they should ask how people would like their burgers done. The meal itself wasn't that good, not many skinny fries either. For our party it was £13 each including a drink, which isn't a bad price but I guess it's the price you pay for cheap food. Burger was burnt also. Would not go here again. However it's ok if you want a lemonade as it's lovely.
