“Great pizzas and good service but not consistently good food.”
Reviewed 3 September 2014

Got a lovely warm welcome on our arrival and the service was great throughout.

The pizzas and garlic bread everyone else ordered were great, really tasty and good value. They didn't have a kids menu but they do a smaller (and cheaper) portions for kids which was great value, especially as their pizzas were barely any smaller than the full sized ones. So that worked out well and I do appreciate it when kids don't get fobbed off with a menu full of fish fingers and chicken nuggets!

I had the Saltin Bocca which was a bit underwhelming - the sauce was very strong but just not an especially nice flavour. It just didn't hit the spot for me. Nicely cooked meat though and the accompaniments were lovely, a really nice and well cooked mix of veg.

Pudding-wise the tiramisu and ice cream were fine, but nothing that stood out.

If we'd just had pizzas and drinks, it would definitely have been at least a 4/5!

“Almost perfect”
Reviewed 1 September 2014 via mobile

Found this little gem by accident on a night out in Newcastle. It looked quaint from the outside so we went in and found the interior as charming as the exterior. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed the family run atmosphere. Of course all of that doesn't really matter unless the food matches, and it did. The steak was perfect. Cooked as I'd asked and well rested before plating. It melted in the mouth and the sauce didn't overpower it.
Everything about this restaurant was great. The only slight let down was the thin paper napkins rather than cloth.

“Sadly less than average”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

Visited with 5 friends for after work meal, having not visited before but having heard positive reviews we were all looking forward to it. The place itself is nice, clean crockery, tables etc. The staff are lovely, very welcoming and attentive. Service was good, no long waits but the food is sadly lacking. Starter of Caesar Salad, finding the chicken was like hunt the thimble, I eventually found a couple of dried up pieces hiding amongst the "leaves", the bacon (or what passed for it) was matchstick shaped bits of hard pink stuff, this was served on a cold plate drizzled in a smattering of oil. But the Calzone Wellington main was like a Greggs cheese pasty only more expensive!! Supposedly filled with pieces of fillet steak, I struggled to find any so opened it up as did my friend who ordered it too. I got lucky with 3 small pieces, my friend found 1. This is no exaggeration. The other members of the group were equally unimpressed with the food, what should have been seafood pasta could have came from a packet...1 prawn and mussels that weren't open. They should be done under the trade description act. Obviously scrimping on the meat & seafood means the profit margins are higher, but they'll eventually lose out when it comes to return custom as we definitely wont be returning.

“Step through the door and you are in Tuscany”
Reviewed 28 August 2014 via mobile

Our first visit to this restaurant in Central Newcastle was most enjoyable.

As soon as you enter the there is an authentic feeling of entering a great Italian restaurant. It's like being on holiday, the walls are decorated with hand painted murals depicting Tuscany and of course Pinocchio.

The menu was comprehensive and the staff most attentive. The food was really, really tasty, my Arabiatta was done to perfection.

We enjoyed the meal so much that we returned 2 nights later and we ordered the Lasagne which the waitress helpfully informed us was fresh, having been made less than 2 hours ago. It was truly delicious

We feel that this restaurant offers excellent value for money and serves authentic Italian food.
Strongly recommended
