“a treat”
Reviewed 27 November 2013

Went for tea for a treat. Wasn’t as busy as usual, decent service.
I had steak, fries and watercress from the Fixed Price Menu – delish as usual
Hubby had a cheese burger with pulled pork and fries which he devoured! Proper man food and he loved it!
Our bottle of Chilean sauv blanc was all the tastier as there’s a slight reduction on a Thursday evening.
Enjoyed finishing our wine listening to some great music.
One negative remains the loos; wish they could make them nicer.
Total cost £43.50

“Great menu, poor food, nice atmosphere”
Reviewed 8 November 2013 via mobile

We ate here on Friday night and were excited by the menu, but the food was disapointing - over cooked and soggy squid, breadsticks that were sliced cheap white bread, burger buns that were stale and a pudding that was wayy too sweet. The menu does not deliver what it sounds like.

The seasonal home made lemonade with port for a fiver was a shot if port, some lemon cordial and hot water...

That asside, the atmosphere is nice and they have a good selection of drinks. Would cone back for drinks but not food.

“Fantastic local pub with a great atmosphere!”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

I went straight out to the branding as I know it's a great place for food and had a pork and chorizo burger with all the trimmings. It was fantastic. Really great food and a brilliant selection of lagers and wine to wash it all down. All in all a lovely and friendly place to be and great service especially as it is in the end still a bar and not a restaurant. I love to go in on a Monday or Tuesday to unwind or for a bit more lively atmosphere on a Wednesday for the quiz night hosted by Mark the head chef.

“Great pub that feels like a local”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

This is a great pub with great staff, beers and wine and kitchen cooked food.

Sunday Lunch is a must with relaxed surroundings.

Taps menu during the day are great value at 3 for a tenner or thereabouts and big portions.

“Best burgers in Newcastle!”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

We regularly visit this pub for a burger and a pint (I think Monday is burger night?). I'm shocked by the bad reviews on here about the service since we've never had any problems - my Dad is a regular and always has a good chat with the staff behind the bar. The food is expensive but of a high quality and the service tends to be fast and efficient. Will be going back here for years to come.
