“Dirty rooms and no hot water.”
Reviewed 7 March 2014

I can agree with the other bad reviews, twice I've stayed here & twice I've had to ask for hot running water. Apparently the boiler 'switches itself off', think that needs fixing.

Hairs on the bed, it's disgraceful.

Cleaning staff banging around, yes, I know, they have to do there job, I understand, but not knocking in your door, coming in & seeing your in bed and leaving!

Absolute box room, on both occasions, doesn't get any smaller than this, people!
Your shower will just about fit you in, if your skinny and have no shoulders and arms.

Mould and mildew in the shower and it's panels.

Shouldn't of came back, but did so because family live close by & no other hotels were available for under a massive marked up price.

Would rather pay Hilton prices, than put up with it again.

If you put me in one of your worst rooms on the second floor then you can expect a poor review! Just because I am on my own here on business it doesn't mean you can put me in a poorly maintained cramped 2nd floor (no elevator) room. Light above bed don't work. Light by window don't work, mirror light in en-suite don't work. Extractor fan does work, sounds like diesel tractor misfiring in an echo chamber. It's so load it blocks out the TV sound completely. The window has a large gap when "closed" that let's in sound, cold and draft in equal measure. The chair has seen better days and is too low for the built-in desk/dressing table/ window shelf. The bed has given me backache and the place is so cramped that I can't move around my small cabin baggage sized case without tripping over it! Avoid this place. If you want a bargain then go elsewhere!

Very good rating given because for the tariff this hotel is very good value for the cost. The staff were very friendly, warm and welcoming.
The room was clean and comfortable if a little small, (again, as expected for the price,) I stayed for 2 nights and will be booking for the future on a regular basis as I cannot justify paying double the price for a bigger room that I spend little time in
The 'Taste of Persia' restaurant was excellent, good service and quality food for a very reasonable price

Room Tip: I stayed on the first floor and was not disturbed by any noise at all

For a last-minute night away this was a great choice not a massive room but who stays in their room in Newcastle it was clean and warm nice bathroom and very friendly helpful staff. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant for a reasonable price, can't wait for the next time. We were on the ground floor and were not disturbed at all.

Stayed overnight when visiting friends. Great location and friendly staff. The initial impression of the room was not good - tired decoration, stained carpet and really cramped. The en-suite bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom. However, we slept well and it was surprisingly quiet other than creaks from adjacent rooms. Nobody else at breakfast in a room which was a real contrast to the bedroom - stylish and spacious. If the bedrooms were a little more cared for this place could be so much better.

Against our better judgement 2 large middle aged men decided to trek north and stumble around the Great North Run. Thankfully we stayed in Jesmond which is a first class location close to the city but far out enough to relax and soak up the local atmosphere in several bars. The hotel is perfectly adequate for the price and the room I stayed in was spotless. The best thing here are the staff who were very friendly and helpful and indulged me by laughing at my ridiculous jokes. If you want 5 star then go elsewhere but if you are happy with clean, warm and comfortable in excellent location then stay here. Top tip if you are running do not eat large curry at midnight and down several pints the night before

My daughter is in her first year at Newcastle University. We stayed a short one train stop north of Haymarket Station in the wonderful area of Jesmond. It's a popular place for second and third year students to live with good reason. It's got everything you need. A smaller but adequate Tesco. An independent bakery and a couple of coffee shops, including a Starbucks, in case that's your standard. There is even what I believe to be the world's smallest hardware store. It's big enough for maybe three or four people to stand shoulder to shoulder. However some how it has everything. And there are a number of fine restaurants including a new one you must try, Jam Jar. They have signature drinks as the name implies which are made with jam. Brilliant concept to go along with their delicious burgers and pulled pork. Our base of course was the Jesmond Hotel. Not the biggest place. The rooms were small but clean and in good condition. The staff couldn't be more attentive. My gratitude goes out to Olma (know that's not spelled correctly) and Anna on the front desk. Olma helped heal a daughter who was suffering from an upper respiratory disorder by bringing in her natural elixir from India. They provide an extremely adequate hot breakfast and several mornings helped me fix a "breakfast in bed" tray for my ailing daughter and my wife. I will definitely return in the future.

Room Tip: Room one (one of our rooms) could use some light darkening shades as the lights from the street to b...
