“Value for money but decor a little tired.”
Reviewed 21 February 2014 via mobile

I spent one night for business. It did the trick. A good nights sleep and a good fried breakfast. Got a good rate through LateRooms.com.

Wi-FI worked well in room. Very clean but a little care worn in places. Could not get modern LCD TV to work in colour! Dead lock on door did not work as did not slide into keep.

Good fluffy towels soap and shampoo sachet provided. Plenty of hot water in shower.

I could hear TV from another room but my room was at the back and otherwise quiet.

I would stay again on my own but I would not bring my wife.

Had a one night stay midweek to attend a Newcastle match. Looked for somewhere that we could drive to easily, that was within walking distance of the match and was not expensive. The Dene fitted the bill in all respects. We were coming from the north and it was easy to get to off the dual carriageway -even with my son directing. The person on reception looked on first impression to be a bit unkempt but turned out to be very friendly, helpful and enjoyed a bit of banter. The room we had was nice and clean with a large en-suite bathroom and a bed that was comfortable. The only thing we would say is that the rooms are not brilliantly soundproofed and we had a room at the front so although the hotel seemed in a quiet area, we were disturbed by people outside seemigly incapable of talking in a normal voice at 1 and 2 in the morning. The staff at breakfast were very nice and friendly. The breakfast was ideal with a nice selction of cereals, grapefruit segments or porridge followed by the usual selection of cooked offerings, all freshly made to order. The hotel is about a 20 to 25 minute walk to the city centre although for those not keen on walking there is a metro less than 10 miniutes away and seemed to be plenty buses.
Would we go back again - definitely particularly if we could get it at the same price.

Room Tip: Rooms to the front seem to be a bit noisier as the hotel is close to the road.

Stayed here for one night and although I arrived earlier than the check-in time, I was checked in without any problem and helped with my baggage by the friendly lady 'manager'. Room had all the essentials, including a comfortable double bed and was clean. The bathroom with small wet-room shower with wonderful hot water and modern fittings was really nice. Breakfast the following morning was plentiful and tasty. Good value, great Northern hospitality and a pleasant experience.

Room Tip: Situated down a residential side street in Jesmond, so mostly quiet. I had a room at the back of th...

stayed here over night jan 2014, we had 2 twin rooms between 4 girls. we all thought this hotel was worth the money we paid. Felt very welcome, staff were very friendly and had good banter. also felt safe and looked after by the reception staff. the reception is manned 24hrs, so we were able to leave our room keys so we didnt lose them. beds were actually really comfortable and clean, no issues with cleanliness everything was fine. shower was very powerful and HOT :) breakfast was adequate and welcomed after a hard night partying lol. the hotel is in an excellent location, right next to osbourne rd near plenty of bars and 5 mins from town. plan on staying here again :)

This comfortable hotel is Jesmond was our base this weekend. The room was very quiet and comfortable at the back of the hotel. The receptionist was very pleasant and welcoming. Our room was very clean and you could almost hold a party in the bathroom. The breakfast in the morning was very good and fulfilled our needs (Fruit Juice, cereal and cooked breakfast with toast and tea/ coffee.

hotel is in a good location and the staff are friendly however the cleanliness is a big let down. when we got to our room the windows were open but the smell was still prominent and a dirty duvet cover was obvious so we asked if it was possible to move to another room which although didn't have as bad a smell was equally dirty with dried on stains on duvet cover I do think the sheets were clean though, the bathroom was so dirty we really didn't want to use it it was obvious the floor hadn't been cleaned and as for the toilet brush I dread to think what germs were on that. we weren't expecting luxury for a 2* hotel but there is no excuse for it not being clean it pained us to actually pay what we did for this and definitely wouldn't stay again

My husband and i stayed for two nights at the weekend. The staff all very friendly and helpful, Micheal was was great on saturday night. the breakfast was good for a cooked breakfast but if you like fruit and yogurt no choose. The room was clean and shower was powerful(MAYBE TO POWERFUL AS WATER COMING OUT QUICKER THAN GOING AWAY) The hair dryer was built on to wall in bathroom and was not very powerful. The only problem was the night porter on a Sunday night he had not the bar open which would have been nice as we came in at nine oclock. also the resturant was not open on sunday night. We went on to bed and watched TV for a while and then went to sleep. Just after 12 midnight the night porter unlocked our door and came into the room said sorry and left. I did not sleep well after that. He said sorry the next morning and said someone hear a tv, I do not know about this as i hear nothing. We had already paid for room as there was no one else to speak to about this matter what could we do.
