“Simply Wonderful”

This is a truly wonderful place to visit. I remember visiting when it first opened and they have always ensured it is up-to-date and there is always something to do. The recent Games On exhibition looking at the history and future of gaming was tremendous fun, especially as it was interactive and allowed you to play a number of games. I strongly urge you to visit soon, you will not be disappointed.

“Not that great”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2015

I went there because of the Game On exhibit, but I was a bit disapointed. It was not that good... Not that many variety and many video games were broken/or didn´t work well. The Sponge Bob 4D experince were great, and maybe for that reason we didn't dislike it. I think that it's expensive for what you get.

Hi Flavale

Thanks for taking the time to post a review. I'm sorry to hear you were a bit disappointed by your recent visit, although I'm pleased you enjoyed the SpongeBob SquarePants 4D Motion Ride.

It's surprising to discover that you felt Game On 2.0 lacked variety - we have well over 100 playable games from the past 60 years, across numerous different platforms and genres, so we feel the exhibition is extremely diverse.

Game On 2.0 games are played on their original historic equipment, much of which is over 20 years old. We try to have all games available at all times, but their age does mean that at times a few may not be working. Our technical team work to repair any issues as quickly as possible, and the number of broken games is generally very low. We do ask that if visitors notice a game has crashed they inform a member of staff so it can be reset - it's sometimes as simple as turning it off and on again, just like we used to do with consoles at home ;-)

As you can see from our other Trip Advisor reviews, many of our visitors choose to stay for several hours or even a whole day, and so feel our tickets represent good value for money. As an educational charity we receive no public funding so our admission prices are essential to allow us to continue to operate.

I hope you will give us another chance in the future, perhaps in 2016 when we open our new Mind Lab exhibition.

Best wishes

Antonia

“Disappointing”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2015

Went on Thursday to the centre and payed £12.95 to get in, what a waste of money. If you go with children great lots to do but as two adults alone there was nothing to see or do, I just didn't get it. There were a couple of shows to see but you had to wait about half an hour to get in. We ended up leaving very disappointed.

Hi Jennifer

Thanks for taking the time to write a review.

I'm very sorry to hear you were disappointed with your recent visit. Did you manage to visit our current Game On 2.0 exhibition? It has been extremely popular with kids and adults, as you can see from our other recent reviews, so I'm surprised to hear you felt there was nothing for you to do.

We also have the 4D Motion Ride and We Are Astronomers showing in the planetarium which adults tend to really enjoy. As you visited on a rainy day during the summer holidays unfortunately some queues are inevitable, but I do hope you managed to see these shows.

We've also had great feedback from adults and children about the new Experiment Zone, where you can perform real science experiments for yourself, such as extracting DNA. Were you able to try out one of the activities in this area?

I do hope you'll give us another chance - Game On 2.0 is here until 3 January so perhaps you would like to visit again outside of the school summer holidays.

Best wishes,

Antonia

“Enjoyable day out ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2015 via mobile

Went here with my partner , 5 year old daughter and one year old daughter.

Even though both were a bit young to take part in everything , they still really enjoyed themselves and we had a really good day out. The play area upstairs is great for the little ones.

We went during the game expedition and It brought back really good memories playing on some of the computer games from my childhood.

It was around 35 pound for a family of 4 and we were there for around 4 hours. If the kids were a bit older I imagine we would have spent the whole day there so it is really good value for money.

Would definitely return in the future

“Great day out ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2015 via mobile

We've been twice now, with about a year between visits. Student prices much appreciated, still a bit steep for us but we're definitely willing to do it on an annual basis!

Latest exhibition was the Game On one- really a lot of fun and a huge range of games available! We did everything available- planetarium, motion ride, experiment zone and the science theatre- thoroughly enjoyed it! Spent all day there- cafe was closed but as we had planned on bringing food with us anyway this wasn't a problem.

Was also good to find that they sell gift vouchers on request at the counter as we were getting an engagement present for our friends.
