We went to Jesmond Dene on a Sunday morning, having heard about the Sunday arts and crafts market on the old Armstrong Bridge; that was disappointing - there were only two stalls there, one at each end, though a third arrived as we were leaving. We chatted to a stall holder, who told us that many people had retired or moved away, and others had drifted away to other venues.

Anyway, having retired for an excellent brunch at Cafe Bar One, just up the road, we went for a walk along Jesmond Dene. Basically, the path follows the Ouseburn River as it makes it's way through a small gorge on its way to the Tyne.

There is a "petting zoo" with various birds and animals (including a very load goat!), a cafeteria, toilets, and, when we visited, an ice cream van. Also, I think I saw an adventure playground in the lower reaches of the Dene.

I love taking my kids to Jesmond Dene Park. Pets corner is fantastic with a nice variety of some farm animals and birds. There is a play park with a lovely green for pinics. There is also a lovely walk along a stream to the Fishermans lodge restaurant and another greean and a disused water wheel. whats best is its all free. Theres a visitor information centre which is good if it starts raining as they have activities for kids and adults alike. Its recently been renovated and a fantastic job has been done.

Beautiful walks and Pets Corner is a great area for all ages especially young children. Take a picnic and go to the Old Mill.

I went to this park as a youngster visiting my grandparents in Newcastle and went back last year in June 2011 . So beautiful.

as you would expect everything was very well presented and the whole experience was worth the money. A warm welcome lovely food and an outstanding selection of cheese. Looking forward to the next special occasion so we can visit again.
