We went to Jesmond Dene on a Sunday morning, having heard about the Sunday arts and crafts market on the old Armstrong Bridge; that was disappointing - there were only two stalls there, one at each end, though a third arrived as we were leaving. We chatted to a stall holder, who told us that many people had retired or moved away, and others had drifted away to other venues.
Anyway, having retired for an excellent brunch at Cafe Bar One, just up the road, we went for a walk along Jesmond Dene. Basically, the path follows the Ouseburn River as it makes it's way through a small gorge on its way to the Tyne.
There is a "petting zoo" with various birds and animals (including a very load goat!), a cafeteria, toilets, and, when we visited, an ice cream van. Also, I think I saw an adventure playground in the lower reaches of the Dene.
