Review of The Blue Carpet

The Blue Carpet

This is somewhere I walk across regularly and never fail to wonder why Newcastle Council thought it a good idea to waste so much money on something which looks absolutely nothing. Can't imagine anyone actually going to see this.

Everytime I walk across this I get angry thinking that of my council tax went to pay for this extremly expenssive rubbish. The Laing Gallery is really worth a visit, just don't look down at the "carpet" as you walk towrds the gallery

It looked good and a bit quirky when it was first put down, but now it's barely noticeable. Not worth investing any time or effort to go out of your way to see, or spend much time looking at, but it's interesting to note that it's there if you're on your way to see the Laing Art Gallery (which is right beside it).

This is an exhibition of why public money should not be given to well meaning fools to spend on public ' art '. The people who commissioned this short lived folly will learn nothing from its premature deterioration .
Walk to Grey Street and look at the frontages of the buildings there , they are a reminder of times when Newcastle citizens invested in quality.
