If visiting Newcastle this has to be on the list of places to visit. How can you not visit this excellent museum free of charge. The place covers so much of the history of the North East, the displays are excellent with always a helpful staff to point you in the right direction, our latest visit included Stephenson’s Rocket, a chance to see history not available to all. The facility has a reasonably priced restaurant too. Enough to spend a day educating the family on the history of the North East with pleasure. Well done Newcastle.

We enjoyed a visit to this lovely museum as part of our tour of the Great Exhibition. The Rocket was displayed fantasticallt and could be viewed from all angles. The museum looked well worth a future visit to explore more of its exhibits. The shop was great: full of themed merchandise which made good gifts for friends

Wealth of areas to visit. Great display on The Rocket and Turbinia. The best area thou was little inventors as part of the get north 2018 exhibition. Excellent opportunity for youngsters to show what we need in 2030 and we can achieve it.

This museum showcases the history and people of the region in truly innovative and engaging ways - a "must" especially if you're able to share the experience with children.

A fascinating insight into what makes Newcastle into the place it is today. Beautifully and thoughtfully presented. The staff were very friendly, helpful and provided lot of detail and colour to the exhibits.

Strongly recommend.
