Description: DABBAWAL - UK STREET FOOD PIONEERS All home-cooked, nutritious dishes that feed the body, and comfort the soul. Genuine Mumbai Street Food bringing complete satisfaction to those who want their food freshly prepared, and utterly authentic. True to the metropolitan roots of Mumbai’s dabbawalas, we opened our first restaurant in Newcastle’s city centre, upon the cobbles of High Bridge. Along with authentic dishes, the retro styling of High Bridge creates a cosy cocoon of traditional Mumbai chic.

Love Dabbawal - pre theatre special is great value. Always have a good meal here. Prices are generally reasonable (though think they should reduce the dhosa down to a fiver!)

Another visit to this lovely friendly restaurant. We took some friends who hadn't been before and they were very impressed at the quality of the food, the lovely textures and complex aromatic flavours and the happy efficient staff. Thank you

Been here a few times now with a group of old work friends. The food is always very good. My favourite is the Railway lamb curry. There were 7 of us, we all had starters, main and drinks. One was a vegetarian and he was very impressed with his meal. With a tip we paid £25.00 each, which I think is reasonable for Newcastle city centre.
The downside, when booking ask for a table away from the door. Last night was the second time our table was at the bottom of the stairs, every time the door is opened it is freezing! We asked for a different table but none were available. So, they did put the heating on.

We went here one Saturday night as a group of 8, the place is nice and the atmosphere is great.
The service was on the slow side but it was a Saturday night and it was busy. The waiter did forget to take one of our parties drinks order but hey, everyone can mistake a mistake.
The food is really nice, i'm told it's very authentic (i wouldn't know) either way it's very nice.
I would certainly recommend this place and will definately be returning.

This is a good-sized restaurant with a chilled out atmosphere & attentive staff. The authentic food here reminds me of being on holiday in Turkey. It is very different to my usual modern curry on Ocean Road. The whole experience was excellent & I would go there again. My only concern was that our mains were not all served at the same time, I could understand if they were busy, but the restaurant was barely half full. Still one of the better Toon restaurants.
