“Great location”
Reviewed 4 June 2012

Recently was in Newcastle for business and meetings. I stayed here for 10 nights, and my room was great. Stayed in a king suite with LR and kitchen. Some colleagues came in later and stayed in the regular king rooms. Understand that these were very small. So, if you can upgrade - do it! I was fortunately upgraded upon arrival. The hotel is still under construction - floors 9 and 10 are still under construction. I was on floor 8, and just twice when I got back to my room before 5pm, you could hear some of the construction going on. But, at 5pm, it stopped and they did not begin until 9am in the morning. Floor 9 is to be completed by the end of June 2012 (this month). The restaurant was great and the breakfast was perfect each day. Only ate dinner here one time as there are many fabulous places within walking distance.
Only downside was their "gym." This is located on floor 1, and is in what appears to be a regular king room. There were two treadmills positioned right next to each other, a bike and a few weight. Fortunately, each time I used the gym, I was in their by myself. The TV is one the wall, so if you are on the treadmill (which I used), you faced the door, and had to listen to the TV. No worries, just plugged into my ipod! Most other days, the weather was perfect, so I just ran down to the Queyside and back. Way more enjoyable that being closed up in a small room!
Will also mention that Holly, manager of the restaurant, was very helpful and greeted us everyday, making sure we were having a good time; did we need anything, etc. Kudos to having Holly on board there as she is a great ambassador for your hotel!

Room Tip: If you can, upgrade!

Excellent rooms and exceptional service. Clean modern and reasonably priced. Well set up for business traveller and highly recommended.

Downside is ability to get a taxi at peak times and parking but this is really a minor item

Sandman Signature was the perfect hotel for me and my mate staying in Newcastle City Centre for a couple of days.

The hotel is stunning, with so many quirky and unusual design features. The lobby is one of the best I've ever seen, very memorable. Bedroom was very comfortable and again you can tell a lot of attention has been made on design. We had a big room with a very comfy kingsize bed and a sofa bed, and it had a really flash kitchen area. Bathroom was awesome, with rainfall shower head built flush into the ceiling.

Shark Bar is very buzzy, great choice of beers and fairly priced. Wanted to eat but it was packed so couldnt get a table, but what i saw being served looked superb!

The team of people working here were excellent - really attentive, friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.

I booked this hotel for a weekend away, the price was very reasonable for the standard of this hotel, it’s lovely. It has central location with 5 minute walk to the train station and a 5 minute walk to the city centre by the Gate a massive shopping complex. As you walk into the lobby it smells beautiful and is very nicely decorated with plenty of seating with nice fabrics and the window has a very nice 'fire feature' .The room which we stayed in was a king size. The room had enough space for what is needed for a hotel night away, with a wardrobe, ironing board and iron which is very useful when needing to iron clothes after having them packed away, there was plenty of storage to put away other items and a full length mirror . The room has a clock and an iPod docking station which was nice to be able to listen to your own music. A LCD TV is on the wall so takes up no space. There's a heating system and aircon in the room which you control yourself which I loved as it was cold and I was able to crank the heating on. The bed was very comfy which was lovely, no bad night sleep in that bed! The shower facilities are also very good with two different show heads, one built into the roof or a detachable one and complimentary shower gel and moisture which people can easily forget when staying away. There’s a microwave and kettle, with full size cups and glasses and wine glass provided in your room which is handy. It was a very nice stay and the staff were friendly. I would definitely stay again and have already recommended as a place to stay.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for night on a saturday night. With its ideal location just opposite St James' park, as we were going to a charity ball there. The room was small but absolutely fine, with a king bed and a microwave! The shower was amazing!! The heater in the room was very noisy but we just turned it off. Very modern but expensive. It has a pub right underneath, we never went in this time but is very handy for food and drink.
Would stay again, but would look for a last minute cheaper option hopefully :)

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in May 2012 and it was a wonderful experience. The front desk staff were professional and and very accomodating to every little thing we needed.
My wife was reluctant to stay somewhere "modern", but she was blown away by the great design of the rooms.
The hotel is ultra modern with first class appliances and plumbing. The bathroom was incredible, with spacious shower and very funtional fixtures
The beds were fantastic and gave us the best sleeps of our three week trip to England.
All in all, a first class experience

This is a conversion from Scottish and Newcastle brewery offices and an excellent job they have done. I was attending RICS awards dinner in the city and we booked into this hotel based on previous reviews. It turned out that the hotel won one of the awards for commercial refurbishment. That aside, the accommodation was very modern, comfortable, very clean and there are excellent facilities. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is in the attached Shark Bar. I thought that this was good, although the service needs to be a little more efficient, however the staff were quite friendly. Very close to St James' Park (I refuse to use the current and no doubt temporary name!), and close to the city centre.

Room Tip: All showers to the standard room ensuites so if you want a bath you need to book a suite, which is r...
