What a fantastic weekend we have just had in hotel indigo in Newcastle. From the moment we arrived and checked in the staff were amazing. The attention to detail and nothing is too much trouble for anyone.

On the Friday night we sat in the bar and had wonderful cocktails. These are great and lovely choice try candy martini !!! Outstanding. On Saturday night we ate in the macro Pierre white restaurant. The food was excellent and service outstanding

The location of the hotel is a five minute walk to all the shops and nightlife and very handy for the rail station

The bedrooms are lovely very modern and feel very new. Everything you could want in there. Mini bar is complimentary which is nice cans of juice water chocolate crisps in it

Breakfast is a real great and everything you could want

Everything was excellent about the stay and I just cannot wait to go back

Room Tip: All rooms looked good.

We had booked the Jury's Inn, Gateshead for our wedding anniversary at the beginning of June 2012 but on arrival there at 2pm we were greeted with ridiculously drunk people staying over for the open air festival directly opposite the hotel. We checked straight out and headed for the Indigo as we have previously stayed in their hotel in Liverpool.
What a great choice we made. The hotel had only opened on 2nd June, 2 days before our arrival, and when we explained our predicament to the reception staff they went out of their way to accommodate us. They allowed us to stay on the internet rate rather than the walk in rate and immediately upgraded us to a balcony room at no extra charge. After 20 minutes or so one of the lovely staff came up with a glass of champagne and strawberries for us both with a little anniversary card. It really made our stay complete.
Having never visited Newcastle before, the staff went out of their way to find us the best places to eat and enjoy the nightlife and it was very gratefully received.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying over night in this amazing city, whatever reason for your stay. The rooms are large, comfortable and most of all very quiet, allowing a full night's sleep whatever time you roll in at.
We enjoyed it that much we've booked the Indigo in Liverpool for a short break in October and will use this chain from now on wherever there is a place available.
Thank you to the team for making our wedding anniversary memorable

Room Tip: All rooms offer the same facilities and are very quiet. Don't judge by location, whilst it looks...

We stayed for 2 nights in July 2012 and could not fault any of the hotels facilities. The staff couldn't be more welcoming or helpful and the hotel is in a great location for food, shopping, local attractions including the quay side and St James' Park. The food menu's are extensive, including the breakfast which can cater for anyone - we will definately be staying in this hotel again - it has everything you need for an enjoying a comfortable stay

From the moment we first waled in the door our stay was awesome. The service out shined every hotel stay we've had in recent memory. Very friendly and helpful staff throughout, from the front desk, to the bar, to the restaurant.

The location is perfect for walking all around the main part of Newcastle. Shopping is about a 5 minute walk, about 10 minutes to the river and the Quayside area with lots of great restaurants. We did a 3 mile run from the hotel that took us across the cool Gateshead Millennium Bridge and back across the old Swing Bridge.

The rooms are good sized (especially for the UK) and very nicely designed. Really comfortable bed, super cool rain shower and everything in the mini bar is free (soft drinks, water and a candybar)!

This will be our go to hotel in Newcastle from now on!

We arrived at the hotel on a warm sunny afternoon, we were delighted to be told we had been upgraded to a balcony room. Sadly though when we got to our room it didn't have a balcony. On questioning this we were told that it was intended to upgrade us but on checking they didn't have a room??
The room had a complementary mini bar with soft drinks, bottles of water, snacks and the usual tea and coffee making stuff in a cupboard. Free wi fi when it worked, an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe. On the firm, high bed was a a nice touch, a Kindle to use, some books already downloaded but there are many free titles to download if you don't want to pay for one.
It was a small room with a high window through which we could see rooftops and sky. I wonder how anyone would manage to fit in an extra childs bed or even a cot.
The room on the 4th floor got quite hot at times and needed the air con to be turned down a few times. The air con itself was quiet but did make a lot of loud clicking noises through the night which disturbed us a bit.
The hotel is in the middle of the city, a few mins walk from the railway station, river, shops etc. I note that one reviewer complained it is in a back street, yes it is in a side street without any views from, I guess most of the rooms but it is very clean modern and stylish inside. We had no trouble finding it although we don't know Newcastle at all. It has it's own car park behind and underneath the hotel.
The bathroom was small with a large walk in shower instead of a bath, much better in my opinion as I hate climbing in and out of a bath to take a shower. It had a rainfall shower and shower hose, detatchable from the wall. Very nice toiletries, fluffy towels, robes and slippers.
The toilet seat in the bathroom was loose. Almost before we put the phone down from reporting it, there was a man knocking on the door to fix it.
We intended going out to eat on some nights but after eating in the in the Marco Pierre White steak restaurant on the first night the food was so good and we liked the choices on offer we ate here every night.
On a couple of mornings we had the cooked breakfast, it was really tasty, very good ingredients seem to be used. Didn't try or see the continental breakfast.
The staff seem very friendly and willing to help all through the hotel. Very relaxed chatting and smiling with everyone.
In spite of our initial disapointment with the room mix up we had a lovely stay here and would recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable hotel for business or pleasure.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms are the same size as standard rooms

The thing that makes all the difference for me are the staff. I wish I could name them all and thank them all personally. Jenna and Rachel were looking after reception this week. The smiles that greet you from these two, warms your heart. The Rooms, the bar, the restaurant are really nice. The hostesses and serving staff look after you very well. I love staying here, each week, 4 or 5 nights a week. I don't want to stay anywhere else.

We called in without a booking after the Olympic quarter final at St James Park. The staff were very helpful and friendly and managed to squeeze us in on a busy saturday evening even though we were dressed for football rather than fine dining.. The food and service were first rate. We will definitely go back again. Thoroughly recommended!
