The property is stunning, we were lucky enough to get a room on the top floor and so enjoy a balcony room which was lovely. The attention to the smallest detail really made the difference.

We dined in Marco Pierre White Steakhouse where it is stated in the promotional material that is has: "The best steak in Newcastle - hands down."
100% agree, quite simply the best steak I have ever had! My only negative comment was that the prawn cocktail was nothing out of the ordinary. Just a bog standard cocktail, at a very hefty price at £10 we had expected to see something special.

We asked for a late check out and the reception team could not have been more helpful in organising this for us. Each and every team member we met was so helpful and friendly especially the welcome host on the Saturday evening who had a huge smile for everyone as they arrived!

All in all a fantastic stay at a fantastic hotel that we hope to visit again in the future.

Room Tip: Fabulous rooms on the top floor with balconies

We stayed for 2 nights in August 2012.

On arrival, the receptionist was helpful and friendly, as were all the staff. The location is very close to the centre of Newcastle, the only drawback being the lack of a loading/unloading space for cars at the hotel door. Given the sometimes rowdy nature of Newcastle nightlife, the soundproofing seemed very good!

Our room was "superior king bed balcony" which pretty much described it. The mattress was good by hotel standards, and the bed a proper king size. The room is divided by a free-standing cabinet on which the TV sits, making the desk area into a semi-enclosed office space. The balcony was large, with a 2-person lounger (but no cushions), a table and two chairs. The bathroom was a good size, with two sinks and a large shower but no bath.

We ate at the Marco Pierre White restaurant within the hotel on the first night and while it didn't blow us away it was certainly good food and expertly presented. Breakfast was in the restaurant and while good, it was perhaps a little too highbrow for the time of day. I found the spicing in the scrambled eggs and Cumberland sausages to be a little overpowering. My wife tried an award-winning cocktail at the bar, and found it to be excellent.

Our criticisms are very minor. Housekeeping neglected to place more toilet paper in the room when the only roll was almost finished, and also didn't empty the ashtray on the balcony. The balcony itself was exposed to the elements and might have benefitted from a screen to offer some wind protection.

Staff were attentive and swift to react to requests. My wife had some Epoisse cheese (hugely smelly and banned from French public transport; not bought at the hotel) for which she needed a plate and knife. These were cheerfully delivered. Due our need for an early checkout, we were brought a baggage trolley the evening before.

Hotel Indigo wasn't cheap, but we would certainly stay there again. That there is an ashtray on every balcony table shows that they take a common sense approach to the needs of smokers while still keeping the hotel smelling fresh (though our room fridge may take a while to recover from the cheese). The contents of the room fridge were complimentary, which is a very nice touch.

We stayed at Hotel Indigo on the 3rd August for 1 night for our Anniversary. We can’t say much more than amazing! We loved every second of it. We were checked in by Rachel on reception who was so polite and give us a great first impression of this hotel (as if the feel of the open plan lounge/reception didn’t do this for us already!)

Room was great, we stayed in 421 which had a balcony, loads of space and a free mini bar which naturally we made good use of! The showers were great, they don’t have baths here, just showers but once you get in it, you don’t want to get out! You can tell the place is pretty new and they appear to be doing a good job of looking after it.

We had a meal in the Marco Pierre white Restaurant which was great, we were given a business card with their own Trip Advisor link on it so I think we will use that to comment on.

We would definitely come back again and we will be recommending to friends and family. Being from Blyth, we are pretty local and heard about this place on the radio a few months ago but didn’t really take much to it until we decided to come for our anniversary. We are so glad we did!

Room Tip: Balcony rooms are lovely

I recently stayed at the new Hotel Indigo on a Sunday night after going to Newcastle for a wedding on the Saturday. The staff were friendly and although we arrived at about 11am they were able to check us in immediately. This was a nice surprise as we were in deperate need of a bed after being up late the night before.

Room was lovely, nice and new and clean, if a little on the small side. Breakfast was very good too. Did try to watch a movie on the night time but the tv wouldn't let us so called reception but they couldn't seem to work out the problem either so didn't get to watch it. I'm sure this was a one off though.

Location of the hotel is excellent, few minutes walk from central station and five-ten minutes from pretty much everywhere else in city centre. Parking was good, secure and private at £12 for the anything over 8 hours I think it was.

The only negative thing about this hotel is that none of the rooms have a bath. This certainly wouldn't stop me from booking again though as everything else made up for it. Would recommend and am highly likely to stay again.

Stayed in July 2012, the hotel is in a brilliant location for the train station, shopping & nightlife.

The staff are friendly & down to earth, just what you want from a modern hotel. Didnt eat in the restaurant, but had room service, which was delivered quickly & was good.

They have night door staff on till late, Michael was really friendly, especially when its not the easiest job in the world :) dealing with noisy, drunk guests!

Rooms are lovely, and complimentary minibar replenished daily. I have stayed in the Glasgow Indigo, and do prefer the rooms there, but they are supposed to reflect the city, so maybe I'm biased???

Would recommend to everyone! :) x

I stayed with 5 friends for my friends birthday at the weekend. The hotel is gorgeous. The rooms are lovely, well decorated and have a luxurious feel. We were totally spoiled from beginning to end and we even managed to have dinner at the Marco Pierre White restaurant, which currently has a long waiting list for Saturday night bookings. However, the lady at the restaurant was so helpful and accomodating and managed to provide a table for our celebrations. The food was lovely and service was excellent. The staff were constantly topping up glasses and attending to our every need. We were gladly just a short walk to the pubs and club that we had arranged to go to and the staff on reception were really helpful in providing information on where to go etc. Will definitely stay again. Thanks for a brilliant stay!

Room Tip: The hotel allocated an interconnecting room for our stay which made oyur stay even better as we were...

I booked to stay at Hotel Indigo for my husbands birthday. We usually stay at the Malmaison however decided to have a change.

I can honestly say that the staff are so friendly and helpful which is so refreshing.

As for the hotel, I don't have a negative word to say. We received really quick service at check in. Upon entering our room (234) we were pleasantly surprised by the modern fresh decor and all the tech within the room (which my husband loved).

After having breakfast in bed (which was superb) I decided to visit the fitness centre. Yeah it's small but the equipment is high spec (no expense spared).

As you can tell we've had a great time and would certainly be returning to this hotel!!
