We stayed three nights at the end of March for my husbands birthday. Plenty of eating, drinking and shopping!!!
The hotel was fantastic. We easily found the hotel and on site car park, got a space straight away, so no problems there. The check in was quick and the reception girls very cheerful and happy. Just arrived in time for Friday fizz so we took up the offer and had a couple of hours in the Grainger Lounge / bar area. The waitress looked after us very well and gave us some tips for the weekend.
The rooms fixtures and fittings were nice and the shower fantastic. Ok, your paying more than a Premier Inn, like some have said on here but your in a prime position and you get those finishing touches and fab hospitality.
The breakfast was impressive, well cooked and very tasty.
We did have a meal in the Marco Pierre White restaurant and must say we really enjoyed our food.
Overall, we enjoyed the Hotel Indigo Newcastle!! Great staff, great food & drink, good atmosphere, good nights sleep, comfortable public areas.
If ever back in the "toon" we will deffo stay here again!!!

Location: A few minutes from the station and about 5 minutes from the main shopping area. Very easy to find.

Check in: There was a queue when we arrived around midday, but the 3 receptionists were efficient and very friendly and in less than 5 minutes we were on our way to the room. Even though we were considerably early for check in, they found us a lovely room on the 4th floor.

Room: We were upgraded to a great rom with a balcony. The room was very clean, it wasn't huge but not small either, had some nice touches such as free minibar with wine, beer, soft drinks, the bedding was incredibly soft. As some other reviewers mentioned, the king size bed seemed to be a little bit narrower than expected, I'm not sure if it's because it's quite high up or longer than usual, but even though it might have looked small, it was very comfy and I didn't want to get up the next morning. I asked for an extra pillow and it was delivered promptly. The Tv had the best chanel selection I've seen.

The bathroom was great, the shower was lovely but it's difficult to use it without splashing water around the bathroom floor, I could have done with an extra bath math (I'm sure I could have asked for another but I couldn't be bothered). I loved their Aveda products, the wonderful towels and the bathrobes. One negative is the soundproofing as I could hear the 'high heel' footsteps on the wooden floor of the room below us (we were on the top floor), I had earplugs all night long and didn't hear anything else after 10-11pm.

Bar: Again, very polite staff and a really nice atmosphere. We had some drinks and nibbles, much better than the usual hotel food.
In fact, every member of staff we had dealings (from reception to housekeeping) with was simply great, well done to the management. Even the security guard at night was very pleasant, well dressed and did his job with a smile.

Sadly we didn't have time to eat at the restaurant, I was tempted by the afternoon tea, it looked really nice.

Even though the hotel is more expensive than some of the competitors, I think it was well worth the money and I would consider it if returning to Newcastle.

Room Tip: Top floor with balcony if available.

The staff really made the hotel. They were warm, friendly, helpful and hospitable. The hotel itself was also very nice although it was really the staff that made the difference. Comfortable rooms, 24 hour gym - this hotel rocks!

Visited here during a short mid-week business trip and the location is pretty good, being just a short walk from Newcastle rail station and within a short walk from the town centre. The staff were very friendly and the room (315) was clean with a brighter decor than I am used to in the normal Holiday Inn's/Express that i normally stay in. There was an iron and ironing board in the room (the lack of which is a personal annoyance in most hotels!) so I was able to turn up to my meeting the next day looking at least half-way professional. The 'free' minibar (consisting of a couple of cans or soft druinks, crisps, chocolate bar and two bottles of water) were a nice touch but the hotel is almost twice the price I would normally pay in a hotel for such a trip so it would have been nice to get it cheaper with less frills. Would i stay here again? If my boss doesn't baulk at my expense claim then yes definitely!

I stayed at the Hotel Indigo recently and was very impressed overall. Car parking was very convenient if a little tight, reception was bright and airy, and check in was very fast.

The 4th floor room was small, but very well appointed. The balcony was a nice touch though the weather meant it wasn't really used apart from a few looks out over the city.

Staff were al very friendly and helpful, with nothing being any trouble.

Great location, and I'd be happy to stay here again.

Nice hotel - friendly staff & nice breakfast - very expensive for what you get though - rooms are small & ours overlooked a bland car park! Struggling with the fact it was 3 x the price of a Premier Inn & really, apart from the posh toiletries & a few bits in the minibar, no better! Would not pay the extra again.

Room Tip: Manage your expectations - rooms are small & quirky - not sure there are any really 'good...

Hi Balikissangel

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent experience at Hotel Indigo Newcastle and Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill.

It was great to hear that you enjoyed our team and breakfast. We strive on creating a 'Great Hotel, Guests Love' and it is always great to hear feedback surrounding our team.

We were dissapointed to hear that you didn't have a great view and compared us to a budget brand. We strive in creating a hotel that is boutique and the extras such as the complimentary AVEDA toiletaries, mini fridge items and WI-FI. Our rooms are all decorated with local neighbourhood images and vibrant colours.

We do hope to see you again very soon.

Kindest Regards,

Mark Winter

We chose Hotel Indigo for an anniversary event with a small family gathering, having stayed at it's sister hotel in Berlin, and we are very pleased with our choice. This is a place with a real buzz to it, the energy is palpable and the staff all look like they are enjoying what they do. The rooms are very comfortable and the shower is bliss! We loved the art work, colour schemes and the attention to detail throughout the accommodation and public areas, not to mention the wonderful food. We were all impressed that, once the food was ordered for a party of twelve, the right meal appeared in the right place without another question. Wonderful, attentive service. We hope to come again.
