“Convenient city centre hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2014

Modern hotel, close to shops and the train station. Lively bar/reception area. Bedroom was large, comfortable, clean, and well equipped for the modern traveller. Very quiet room considering its location. No bath, but excellent shower. Breakfast was fine, but was not tempted by the restaurant for evening meal. Only problem was that the hotel car park issued me with a ticket and raised the barrier even though it turned out there were no spaces left! I had to park my car blocking others to get help. In the end I was given access to the staff car park, but why on earth was the machine still issuing tickets? I wasn't the only one to get caught out. Reception staff really friendly and helpful.

I had an overnight stay at the hotel towards the end of April and must say was very impressed with the service, decor and facilities the hotel had. The staff were super nice and friendly. My room was a great sized room with a TV that worked and had a number of channels that actually work! At first i was a little disappointed that the room i had appeared to have just a normal looking shower when their website advertises that all rooms have rainfall shower. However, appearances were deceiving as the shower was so powerful and exactly like a rainfall! The FREE mini bar is just awesome that added cherry on the cake! The location is very central to the train station, about 2 mins away and about 5 mins away from the shopping mall. I would def recommend staying here!

stayed at the indigo on sat 3rd may for a concert at the city hall and my wife meeting old pals.

ok this is serious party city so during the night there were some noises from party goers getting back but nothing serious. the hotel its self is central, well located and had everything we would want in a hotel. great bar and restaurant, very comfy rooms and the staff....so good!...so friendly!!!

a special mention to receptionist rachael....we have stayed in many 5 star hotels all over the globe and her welcome for us was up there with the best....made us feel so welcome and the hotel should be proud to have her as a first contact on arrival....a true star.

Can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Staff on the reception are very friendly without being too over the top and fake, and they can't do enough for you. The customer service of all staff we encountered was excellent. Our room was lovely, no issues at all, everything worked and was in good condition, and very clean. Breakfast was wonderful, as always.
This is our third stay here, and considering we live less than 30 miles away, it will always be our first choice when we stay in Newcastle. You might be able to find general rooms for a cheaper rate, but when we don't get the opportunity to have a night away from home very often I am glad that I know I book Hotel Indigo and be guaranteed a perfect stay.

We have stayed at other Indigo hotels and so know that they "theme" their hotels. This one did not disappoint. The rooms are always cosy but they do at least have chairs for two people to sit in not the usual one which is nice. We did not eat here in the evening as we were going to a show but we did enjoy our breakfast. On the downside we were disappointed that we could not get a pre-show drink in the bar as it was full to capacity with party people but in all fairness we were told that we could take our drinks back to our room which we did not want to do. When we came back from the show we were able to have a drink and the staff were very friendly even although they were run off their feet with customers.

We have just come back from a weekend at this hotel. It is perfectly located, 3 minutes from the Central station, 2 mins from the metro line if coming from the airport (about 20 mins journey from airport to central station) and 5 minutes walk from the main shopping area. Surrounded by nice restaurants as well as having the in house steak restaurant, which is suppose to be good although we didn't eat there as it gets booked well in advance and the only times left on a saturday are early evening 6pm or 9 pm so I would advise to book in advance. Breakfast on Saturday was extremely tasty, they came and took our order from a menu that had full cooked options & porridge or pancakes. The chef very kindly made me scrammbled eggs with no milk to accomodate my deitary needs! Sunday breakfast was a little disappointing after being spoilt with table service the day before, whereas Sunday was buffet style and harder to ask for anything out of the ordinary and you were not given the menu from the day before. It was also very busy on the sunday morning compared to Saturday not that this was a bad thing but a little less relaxing. Rooms were extremly clean, comfy bed and decent shower, the mini bar with crisps and a kitkat is a thoughful touch. Staff were very friendly and incredibly efficient. One thing to note is remember you are in the center of town therefor there is some noise from people walking back from nights out...I did hear a couple of people mention it at breakfast but I have to say I didn't think it was very noticable but I did hear the odd shouting from some merry people going home at 3 am :) This is a great choice for couples, friends or family spending a weekend in Newcastle, I would book again!

Hi minikobe

Thank you for this review.

I am so happy that we could accommodate your needs and I am so please that you enjoyed your breakfast on Saturday.

However we do apologise for not been able to do this the following day. Due to a high volume of guests we occasionally have to serve a buffet style breakfast. Please feel free to speak to any of our staff who are more than happy to help, if you are not 100% satisfied.

We hope this does not deter you from stopping at Hotel Indigo Newcastle.

Kind regards

Mark Winter
