Visited this place multiple times with friends.

Service 3/5
Staff were friendly and able to provide acceptable service. I found that staff had difficulty whenever I asked for the bill, taking about 15 minutes to respond with a receipt and a further 5 for a a card machine.

Food 4/5
Food was very good although, spicy-ness levels are for western taste buds and not the authentic full package deal which u would get in asia. Presentation of food was unique and inspiring with asian style cut vegetables into flowers etc.

Value 4/5
Value matched the quality, presentation of food and overall atmosphere.

Atmosphere 4/5
This place was peaceful, full of couples and business colleagues after a quite meal. The relatively small restaurant size perpetuated and maintained a very tranquil environment without using partitions or divides.

Bar Scene 3/5
Staff provided a limited range of alcoholic drinks but could have done better. Waiters were not too familiar with their wines and amateur serving techniques.

Had a family meal here on a Saturday night. Good location. Had the dearest set menu. Food was good. Starters well presented. Soup was "hot". Main courses were a bit predictable. Everything was acceptable but not outstanding compared to other thai restaurants I have been too in other cities.

Definitely recommend. Food was excellent and staff very friendly. Good size portions and excellent value for money. If I hadn't seen the previous trip advisor remarks I probably would have walked past the restaurant. Please don't walk past. Go in and sample wonderful Thai food

Dined in old Siam when they first started few months back and thought the food and service was good with decent portion size. However, everything changes since my last visit with friends last week. The already tiny Portion size is being made worst with its overly huge plate. Disappointing soggy old siam fried rice which uses gelatinous rice. 5 pieces of chicken bits in a portion of chicken pad thai. Lastly, A compulsory tips being added to final bill without any clear notice / warning. Being a consultant chef myself, I can clearly see that their effort is more focused on profit rather than flavours. Sorry but I will not be spending my hard earn money on them anytime soon.

We visited this restaurant last Saturday. Busy, busy, busy- with locals and other Thais!

We had a set meal (menu B) which was prefaced by lovely dark brown prawn crackers- extremely tasty. We then had the excellent Old Siam Platter with a selection of starters such as (very meaty) Chicken wings in a red wine sauce, pancake rolls etc. The starters were followed by a lovely hot/sour seafood soup. The mains were 1. duck in green curry (absolutely delicious), 2. a piquant king prawn dish and a 3. a spicy chicken one (poor chicken- tasted a bit papery and not so much flavour in the flesh)- with a medium sized bowl of rice. We washed it down with a surprising Thai rose which went rather well. The rice was not so generous in portion, but the meals certainly were and for two people, this was in totality a real blowout feast!

The staff were polite, all Thai (perfect your wai) and very efficient and solicitous.

I couldn't see either a picture of HM the King nor the spirit house, which was a surprise in the decor.

I would recommend a window seat upstairs (steep winding staircase) with a cosy look out on a bustling part of the Newcastle drinking scene. It was fun to see all the fancy-dressed Stag and Hen parties.

There is a taxi rank across the road and the Q1 and Q2 buses stop nearby.

There are two excellent (real ale) pubs nearby- the new Bridge Tavern (with a microbrewery) equipped with a part-covered roof terrace under the World -famous Tyne Bridge and the Crown Posada- one of Newcastle's most historic, best and smallest bars.

There is a small, slightly cramped, table by the window (on the right side of the upper windows) where two dining together could have quite a cosy romantic meal a deux, despite the bustle of the restaurant. Allow £65 per couple (2013).

Outside Thailand you'd be hard pressed to have a better meal.
