Metro Inns Newcastle
Reviewed 3 March 2013

Me and two friends stayed at the Metro for a night out in Newcastle. Being my 1st time in a hostel, i was a little nervous. But the staff where very welcoming and helpful. The roons are small and basic, but its only somewhere to sleep. Toilets and showers are self cleaning which is handy, as lots of groups/partys i think stay here. Would deffo stay here again. Big up to Rachael, Joanne & Michelle. Fab fab night! :-)

We were looking forward to staying in the hotel as a group of 7 girls. It had a reputation as a party hotel. Boy were we wrong. You could not play your music without the night staff coming to your room and threatening to throw you out. The hotel was quite out dated, the facilities were poor but you get what you pay for. It was great for £17 per night but couldn't have stayed there longer than 2 days!

Our room was clean and tidy, as was the reception, toilets, showers and hallways. The family room we stayed in was small but not a problem as there were only the two of us, and had everything we needed for our stay. The staff and the cleaners were very friendly and helpful in every way. We used the pub next door a few times and also travelled to the nearby shops and retail park. We visited as a couple, for a friends 21st Birthday and although our friends hotel was a lot closer to the city centre, I felt much more comfortable staying at the Metro Inns than I would have done at their accommodation (which by the way cost around twice as much). Our stay here is quite simply summed up in 4 words...Excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Smoking rooms available but they are on the ground floor

Wow, I never knew a place liker this existed in the uk. You see places like this on movies, grotty, seedy, ridiculously cheap little motels. Basic, cold, only 3 toilets per floor. When you walk into reception there was a note saying " no rigger boot beyond this point" says it all. Cheap crappy digs for builders working away from home.

Good value for money would not pay more than £20 for the poor state and maintenance of the rooms. Was considering staying on an extra night but when I looked on the web it would have been £35 it is definitely not worth this much in my opinion. On the brighter side the staff are very present and helpful and go out ther way to help.

This place was cheap and cheerful, 6 of is stayed for a birthday party weekend. Unsurprisingly as they are so cheap the hotel attracted a few parties, one group down the hall caused a bit of commotion in the early hours but the staff were great and warned them it was unacceptable Nd if they kept it up they were out. Toilets and showers were self cleaning and and my first experience of these - daunting at first but a little bit fun. I will definitely stay here again, I know some of the reviews on here are poor but as I said the hotel was clean/tidy and a bargain and we will be using metro inns again!

When first arriving to the hotel after having to ask for directions several times because no one had heard of it I arrived at the hotel. From the outside it looked like a very good hotel considering it was also next to a travel lodge. I went to the desk where i noticed there was an old scabby toaster on the side for use of guests. I then checked in where i was told my room was on level two. Now with 2 suitcases full it would have been handy to have a lift however the hotel doesnt seem fit to have a hotel. Looking at the room it seemed fairly clean however very compact with a silly pole next to the double bed. There was also a top bunk which was virtually in accessable when drunk as it was very small the ladder where you also did not land on the bed once reaching the top you had to crawl into bed. Nextly the toilets where all shared with 5 toilet to each level and 2 or 3 showers. Our whole grouped booked out the entire hotel so you can see why this would be an issue as 100 people sharing 3 showers will be a pain. However the toilets where kept clean but very old fashioned in needing of doing up. The hotel was portrayed to be a party hotel where we could have abit of fun once arriving back. This was not the issue. They where extremely strict with even playing music low. Im sorry but its a budget hotel on the outskirts of newcastle. Next time i will happily check into the travel lodge.

Room Tip: The travel lodge is much nicer and has good breakfast.
