“Fabulous!”
Reviewed 28 June 2013

A small restaurant but beautifully furnished and decorated and the food and service were fantastic! Would definitely go back. Plenty of choices on menu and some a bit different from the usual 'bog standard'!! The guy who took our order was very knowledgeable and was happy to adapt a dish for you if you wanted it slightly less spicy!! All in all a really great indian restaurant and if you haven't tried it yet you really should!! Oh, and by the way, you must try the garlic chips!!

“Stands out from the crowd”
Reviewed 31 March 2013

The Shahe is a small but perfectly formed restaurant offering a very good choice of dishes at reasonable prices. There are a lot of Indian restaurants in the Gosforth/Newcastle area that we've tried and this one always hits the spot. Staff are very friendly and the service is hard to criticise. The place has been refurbished and the decoration matches the atmosphere well.
Takeaways are always delivered promptly and are fresh and hot upon arrival.
If you go to and sit in for a special occasion the staff always make a fuss and exchange pleasantries. As the takeaway business always appears very busy, you can often benefit from a nice quiet table in the restaurant.
An all-round enjoyable experience to be had.

“Disappointing takeaway”
Reviewed 24 August 2012 via mobile

I was so looking forward to curry and we decided to try somewhere new, not certain whether we would eat in or takeaway. When we got to Shahe only two tables were occupied so we went for the takeaway option. The nut pilau was land and greasy, the peshwari nan bland, the spinach bhaji actively unpleasant and the mains ok although an alarming shade of red. On the plus sde the staff were friendly but we'll not be back.
