“Great day out.”
Reviewed 19 February 2013

Went with a group and well worth the money. Our 2 guides were very professional and well informed. Tour last a good 1hr 30 min and was never bored, seeing what went into making local programms for the TV and Radio.

“Something a bit different”
Reviewed 13 January 2013

I visited here with my parents as a gift for their 56th wedding anniversary. I thought it might have been a bit much for my nearly 80year old parents but they loved it.

The tour was great, informative but in a very relaxed atmosphere. The tour guides, Tony and Carol were lovely, friendly and enthusiastic.

It was my second visit but it was just as good as the first. A great tour of the t.v studios and radio station and a bonus to meet Sue Sweeney who was charming.

Definately worth a visit, it changes your view when watching the news from your sofa.

“Brilliant”
Reviewed 23 June 2012

Went here as a family including my 9 year old. It was a great 90 minutes of hearing some of the history of BBC Newcastle, delving into the archives, then getting a chance to be in the studio during a radio broadcast (and ending up on air!!), making our own news, sport, weather broadcast and then sitting in the areas where the local news is transmitted and all local input is coordinated.

We loved it. It was all very interesting with great tour guides and was excellent value at around a total cost of £20 for 3 of us. Free BBC Newcastle lanyards on leaving and just generally a feeling of having done something different that was very enjoyable. They only do tours around 3 days a week but look on their website for more details. There is plenty of free parking on site on a Saturday, otherwise a 10 minute walk from St James Metro.

Try it!
