We went there after seeing it mentioned on the victoria tunnel website. It was a pleasant surprise and very good find. We are definitely going back again.

Thank Ashraf A

I have been to Ernest several times and always enjoyed the food and the friendly staff. The food this time would only get one star but the extra star is for the staff who are very good. I emailed Ernest several days ago after seven of us had below standard food, and have not heard back. The fish fingers and veggie sausages were burned, the hollandaise sauce was bitter and the noodle salad looked really unappealing and the sweet potatoes were also burned. I have had much better food here when it has been much busier. Maybe the chef was having an off night. One member of our party was charged six/seven pounds for a large glass of wine which is shocking! I will certainly give them more stars if the food improves. However I am not inclined to go back at the moment. Sorry Ernest.

Our 'local' and we love it. The cooking is getting more and more 'predictable' - as in no let-downs any more :) The staff are getting really competent, take feedback well, it's just a wonderful place for a relaxed hour or two.

Brilliant breakfasts, and cakes!

Tucked away in the arty Ouseburn part of town it is a bit off the beaten track but well worth tracking down. Good menu, homemade food different to the usual offer in café, quirky and comfy space and a great feel to the place. Had homemade mushroom soup with Stilton croutons which was very nice indeed and sorry I didn't have time to stay for a slice of cake. Will time a return for one of their live music nights. Highly recommended.
