“Good food and friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2014

My colleague and I enjoyed our food, very tasty. The menu is absolutely massive, loads of choice. The staff were very friendly and efficient, we didn't have long to wait at all unlike some reviewers, though it was a Monday night. I would recommend the Blue Moon.

“Lucky to get 3 star review”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2014

Well, I have to start by saying our party of 12 all had a fantastic night out here. I'll start by saying the food was lovely, but the service was terrible. The staff were courteous and friendly. I'll now expand on this.
We ordered our food and waited for almost an hour before the starters arrived. ( during this time 2 of our party went to buy their own cider from a shop elsewhere as the restaurant did not have any in stock. It was however on the drinks list - teririble service also charging £1.50 corkage )
Once the food did arrive we all enjoyed the well cooked delights from, prawn dishes to standard chicken curry dishes, lovely duck and tasty seaweed, all devoured with gusto as we were all starving after the prolonged wait.
There were 3 or 4 of us asking the staff about the delay throughout the night to which we were just keep being told the kitchen was behind due to the volume of people. They were clearly under staffed.
We did all venture up to a private karaoke room which was brilliant fun it has to be said, but again it has to be mentioned at the end of the night when our bill arrived it was wrong on several fronts. There was things on that we did not have and other things incorrectly added. Not good. The manager did correct this, but it put a bit of a damper on things.
All in all , brilliant night was had by all, but the restaurant needs to be run in a much more professional manner to have repeat business as there far too many issues with the service.

“Fantastic Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2014 via mobile

Visited as a family group based on the recommendations we had read on Trip Advisor and we weren't disappointed.

As a family group we plumped for the set menu B - again recommended - which featured soup - mixed starters & duck and then a choice of mains including sweet and sour chicken, shredded beef, salt and pepper squid. At ordering we were asked if we wanted to make any amendments to the choices which was great as not many do ask.

The food was well paced with time between courses and was very tasty - really fresh and tasty. I was really impressed with the quality and taste and is one of the best meals I had eaten in a while. Plus there was no msg after taste with this meal which I can often get with Chinese.

It's worth pointing out that this Resturant is off the beaten track from Chinatown but well worth the visit. It's well priced and lots of standard and different Chinese food.

The only feedback for me is that the Resturant was fairly bright personally like my dining a little subtler, and we were served green tea on arrival - again delicious - but appeared on the bill later.

Overall, a great experience and will go back.

“Tasty food”

One of Newcastle's best kept secrets. Food excellent and staff accommodating. If the dish isn't on the menu, just ask and they will knock it up for you!

“First of many visits, I hope.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 December 2013

First visit to a very pleasant venue. We decided to choose our dishes and to try some things not had before. The frogs legs were very tasty and the potatoes in chilli oil and vinegar were a revelation. Delicious in taste and texture. The menu is extensive with most old favourites and very many new dishes. How good it would be if Blue Moon would offer 'tasting menus' - maybe where 8 or 10 small dishes would be served for a fixed price. This would enable a wider range of tastes and dishes to be tried without fearing the cost for a full serving of something one might not like. Excellent service and very helpful staff, willing to make suggestions as to what to try. Tried the House Sauvignon Blanc and found it OK. Doggy bags available with a smile.
