Owner description: The Parlour at Blagdon is situated within the Blagdon Estate, just a stone's throw from Northumberlandia. We offer idyllic, rustic and rural surroundings for a delicious meal or drinks within Poppy's Tea Room; a beautiful Grade 2 listed building formerly used as a Smithy. Whether it's a warm summer afternoon or a crisp winter morning we have food and drinks to suit every occasion ranging from cakes & traybakes, snacks & platters to light lunches. You can also enjoy either a pot of tea next to our log burning stove or a glass of wine in the Garden Room. Our food is traditional fayre with an Italian feel and is freshly made to order. Additionally, The Parlour is home of Marcantonio's Ice Cream, all manufactured on-site and based upon the award-winning recipe originally created over 100 years ago in Picinisco, Italy. We also offer a wide range of specialty plants and imaginative gifts. Our younger visitors can explore our outdoor play area whilst you sit back and relax. Well behaved pets are always welcome within our grounds and we are just 1 mile from the A1 Seaton Burn roundabout with ample car parking available on site. The Parlour at Blagdon: a destination with a difference.

Second visit... And the last!!

Waited 50 minutes for our order... It wasn't very busy... When it came my sons pitta pizza was cold, my panini was cold and mozzarella hadn't melted.. Partners sandwich was ham and fine. The male member if staff came over and asked if everything was ok, said no showed him why he apologised and gave us a full refund. It's a shame with the effort that's gone into the place to have such poor customer experiences twice.

I won't be back and I shall not be recommending it to any of my neighbours etc in stannington.

The Parlour was recommended to us as somewhere child friendly to visit with our 9 month old daughter. We were not disappointed! After a warm welcome we were quickly provided with a high chair and were looked after perfectly throughout our visit. Needless to say we have already made several return visits and sampled plenty of things from the Italian inspired menu. Of course the home made ice cream (made on site!) is always a must have, the Snickers is our favourite.

We visited this place on a wednesday lunchtime on the recommendation of a friend and it was packed out. Obviously news travels fast. Its owned by the Marc Anthony ice cream/coffee shop family so they should have the experience to make a decent go of it. Its a little out of the way but worth a detour. I had the club sandwich (£4.75) which was huge with a cup of filter coffer (free refills) There's an ice cream parlour with the ice cream made on the premises. A little shop and a small garden centre which could be improved. Plenty free parking. A little children's play area with a wooden house and rubber chips. It was a lovely sunny day and we sat outside in the garden area. Its early days but I suspect this place will get better.

We came here on a Sunday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised at the reasonable prices, vintage 'potting shed' decor and extensive menu. We opted for afternoon tea for two and were not disappointed. Sandwiches, salad, two varieties of warm, homemade scones, brownies, strawberry tartlets and all accompanied by some expertly-made cappuccinos. Feeling greedy, we decided to get a couple of homemade ice creams - Snickers and toffee. Absolutely divine! We'll be back - again and again!

It might be early days for this new venture after its days as a small garden centre but it's going to ruffle more than a few feathers among the other tea rooms in the area if it continues to provide the high standard of food and service that we've just experienced. It's only a couple of weeks since opening and, yes, there were a few minor wrinkles in respect of speed of service around midday but service with a genuine smile and a polite voice goes a long way towards establishing a loyal customer base and we will certainly be back - it was a rare sunny day with lots of demand for seats. Not the cheapest tea room around but excellent food and good value for money and fabulous ice-cream. No sign of nor sounds of anything other than a slightly gentler clientele thank goodness and it was a relief to find that the north east does not have yet another greasy-spoon establishment. We can recommend the Pasta Bolognese Ragu and Hot Beef sandwich as light lunch options with Ice-cream to follow.
