Owner description: The Parlour at Blagdon is situated within the Blagdon Estate, just a stone's throw from Northumberlandia. We offer idyllic, rustic and rural surroundings for a delicious meal or drinks within Poppy's Tea Room; a beautiful Grade 2 listed building formerly used as a Smithy. Whether it's a warm summer afternoon or a crisp winter morning we have food and drinks to suit every occasion ranging from cakes & traybakes, snacks & platters to light lunches. You can also enjoy either a pot of tea next to our log burning stove or a glass of wine in the Garden Room. Our food is traditional fayre with an Italian feel and is freshly made to order. Additionally, The Parlour is home of Marcantonio's Ice Cream, all manufactured on-site and based upon the award-winning recipe originally created over 100 years ago in Picinisco, Italy. We also offer a wide range of specialty plants and imaginative gifts. Our younger visitors can explore our outdoor play area whilst you sit back and relax. Well behaved pets are always welcome within our grounds and we are just 1 mile from the A1 Seaton Burn roundabout with ample car parking available on site. The Parlour at Blagdon: a destination with a difference.

We booked the Summer Shed (free) for my parents 71st wedding anniversary. The room was set out lovely, we asked for high chair and table for 4 children, this was set out in the corner. Eleven adults had afternoon tea, Rose wine and bottled beer. There was music playing on the cd player on the small fireplace, the atmosphere was lovely, and the staff very friendly. The afternoon tea was amazing fantastic value £8 for 4 types of sandwiches, fruit, cheese and cherry scones, small tartlets. All served with lots of tea. We really enjoyed ourselves and the children played in the garden in the cosy house for children. The children loved their children's party meals and they also enjoyed an ice cream. Will recommend it to my friends.

My friend was puppy sitting so had to think where we could have a treat with our girls and take the puppy. We took two 12 year olds, two 5 year olds and the puppy for early tea. The weather was very warm and sunny so the girls sat under the gazebo and the staff brought a bowl of water for the dog. We had an antipasti platter to share which was totally delicious- washed down with a cold glass of Pinot Grigio! The girls had cheese scones, Victoria sponge cake and amazing ice cream. We will be back soon! Staff were very prompt serving and we enjoyed our treat very very much thanks to all!!!

The ladies of Stannington Women's Institute had a pre-arranged meeting at The Parlour on Tuesday 5 August 2014. We had an absolutely fantastic tea, piles of lush sandwiches, cakes and scones. As there were 20 of us the service was first rate. Even my gluten free tea was fab (hard to do with this requirement I know).

Here's a tip - if you want fast food, go to McDonalds but if you want a great time in the country go to The Parlour at Blagdon!
